Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best moments are those that are unexpected. I've met the most amazing folks when I am least prepared or looking.

Interests

Dancing. It's my number one. Since I'm from Louisiana, and most recently New Orleans, music is in my blood. Live music is such a fascinating art to me, any music at all gets my blood pumping and my feet tapping.

Listening. Part because of my background in mental health counseling, and part because it's just the way I operate, I will always give you my undivided attention if you need it. I love hearing people's stories, but I also want to know what makes you tick. I want to understand why you do the things you do, what you love about yourself and the important people in your life, and about the hopes and dreams you have for your future.

Roadtripping and traveling. I've done it a bunch (15 countries and half of the states), and plan to do it much more.

Being Outside. Hiking, camping, bike riding, gardening, picnicing, and good ole' sitting, too.

Yoga. Ashtanga, of late.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love anything live. Jazz shows, rock concerts, operas, plays, dance ensembles, improv shows.

I love movies that make me think. I also love the occasional movie where I don't have to think at all. Beasts of the Southern Wild. Fantastic Mr. Fox. Amelie. HP. LOTR.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Planting milkweed seedballs via bike across the entire state of Iowa. Traveled east from Hawaii to Ireland, crossing the Pacific and Atlantic, in 48 hours. Hiked the Abel Tasman national park in New Zealand as the tied was rising, almost being stranded for the evening. Played in the hot spring baths with elderly Hungarian women. Lived and worked at a holistic community in Kissos, Greece, for a month. (well, that's more than one...)
