About Me

I'm just finished my last semester of college by studying abroad at the University of Valladolid in Spain. Now, I am working in Madrid for the summer as an au pair in order to keep living in Spain as long as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have only used couchsurfing a few times so far, but I absolutely love it! It may be the best way to meet new people and experience new cultures while traveling. I believe that Couchsurfing has clear benefits for both the person hosting and the person being hosted. I plan on visiting a handful of countries during my semester abroad, and I intend to use Couchsurfing during my travels.

Interests

I love learning about new ideas and cultures. My favorite classes in college have always been in the humanities such as philosophy, psychology, anthropology, political science, and theology. In other words, I love learning about people! I also enjoy reading, watching movies on Netflix, playing board games, visiting museums, and being outdoors.

I didn't realize this until I started traveling, but I love going to festivals! The weirder, the better :)

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

I'm a huge fan of 80s pop music and indie music, as well as any song that makes me feel nostalgic about my childhood as a nineties kid in America. I've also been getting into more Latin music, but I think that's just a natural result of living in Spain for a few months :)

Some examples: Sufjan Stevens, the Strokes, Arcade Fire, Local Natives, Fleet Foxes, Helado Negro, Walk the Moon, the Head and the Heart, Flight of the Conchords, New Order, the Killers, Duran Duran, a-ha, Depeche Mode, and Talking Heads.

MOVIES

I love thriller, horror, mystery, and dystopian movies. I also love Disney/Pixar movies. My two favorite movies both star Brie Larson- Room and Short Term 12.

Some other favorite movies of mine: White Bird in a Blizzard, the Babadook, the One I Love, Her, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Road Within, It Follows, the Skeleton Twins, Slow Learners, and Zoolander.

BOOKS

As far as genres go, I love the same types of books as I do movies. My favorite novel of all time is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close- I've probably read it about 8 times. I also enjoyed reading Gone Girl, Oryx and Crake, the Girl on the Train, The Good Girl, and Room.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Celebrated the Viareggio Carnival in Italy
Celebrated Las Fallas in Valencia, Spain
Stayed with the most AMAZING family in Morocco
Studied abroad as an Erasmus in Valladolid
Celebrated San Fermin in Pamplona

Teach, Learn, Share

Right now I'm learning Spanish so I would love to practice the language (as well as other languages) anywhere I go. I can help hosts practice their English skills.

I took krav maga lessons for about 6 months in 2015, and although it's been awhile since I trained, I can help teach some useful and practical self defense moves :)

I am also a master at MBTI and can help you find your personality type. If that sounds at all interesting to you, just ask me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories! I can also teach you how to play "black magic" and "bananagrams" :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal

Countries I’ve Lived In
