About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To roam the world and take in all of life's majesty.

ABOUT ME

I am an ambitious, slightly eccentric university student who had to be removed from Mannheim kicking and screaming to finish my degree in the USA. I have plans to return to Germany as fast as possible to pursue my dream career of being a librarian.
I am a lover of cats, literature, art, seeing new places, and meeting new people.
Things that terrify me include spiders, ferris wheels, and death.
I think human interaction is one of the most precious things on the planet - after all, without other people, how would we ever know how stupid we sound? ;)

PHILOSOPHY

"The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it is called the present."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host people, show them around the city during the day (and night if they want), and surf on people's couches in an attempt to see the world from a local's perspective.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted one CS guest so far, and it was one of the craziest (and most awesome) nights of my life!
We learn best through teaching - I sincerely believe this. For example, while giving the tour of Mannheim, we found a tiny hole-in-the-wall shisha bar serving local brews that I'd never seen before in my own town.
CouchSurfing has allowed me to meet people I don't think I would have ever run into otherwise, and I'm extremely grateful for it.

Interests

I am an avid gamer, I love to read, I like to climb things, I am tech-savvy, and I am halfway decent at most forms of art (aside from sculpting and dancing).
I am always on the hunt for new hats - I can't get enough of them.
Coffee runs in my veins, and that is perfectly okay with me.
I hope to one day be fluent in at least 3 languages. This is a big feat for me because I grew up in America in a monolingual household, so I wasn't introduced to other languages until grade 9.
One day, I want to be able to say that I have visited all of the world's continents. Traveling is a passion of mine, and when I lived in Germany, I managed to make it to a lot of countries I never would have seen if I had stayed in the US.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a big part of my life; I enjoy most forms of music outside of jazz and blues. A few of my favorite bands/artists are System of a Down, Asking Alexandria, Peter Fox, Ben Folds, Basshunter, and Fall Out Boy. I like tons of other bands - this is just to give you an idea. :)

I am also flexible with my movies - I don't normally like action movies, but even this standard is broken when a good action film comes along. I'm willing to watch anything once, so if you have any good suggestions, please share!
Some of my favorite movies are Super Troopers, Zoolander, The Dark Knight, Shrek, Half Baked, The Exorcist, Lammbock, Office Space, V for Vendetta, Saw I and II (after that, they became stupid), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Lastly, I've read enough books to make it hard to remember which ones I liked the most, but here are a few that stick out: the Harry Potter series, Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse Five, Everything's Eventual, Dreamcatcher, It, Pet Semetary, and White Oleander.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled through 30 states in 27 days when I was 15 years old, sleeping in only a sleeping bag (no tent or air conditioning) from Mount Rushmore to Yosemite Park; from the Alamo in Texas to the beaches of California.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to draw and shade with graphite pencils, how to whistle through your hands, and how to make basic American food (not hamburgers).

I'd love to learn about your native language (whatever that may be), re-learn how to play guitar, and learn how to cook local dishes from all over the world.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Cayman Islands, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
