About Me
Hello there!
My name is Khoa and I travel quite a bit as part of my job in the water industry. It's a job that has taken me to some diverse locations around the world and very much broadened my perspective. Reality is certainly more than five miles wide!
One of the great joys of traveling is making meaningful connections with those that you meet along the journey. There is nothing quite as enjoyable as having an interesting conversation over coffee or casually strolling through a beautiful city while musing of life's peculiarities.
I'm somewhat of a dreamer myself, pulled in different directions by work, family and unfulfilled ambitions. There simply isn't enough time to do it all. I approach life with a calculated calm but also an insistence to never take it too seriously. There are some that accuse me of being overly generous but it's always in the spirit of having a positive experience!
If our paths do happen to cross one day then I will very happily take time to listen to your story!
(And more than likely treat you a coffee!)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It is sometimes difficult meeting new people in another country so couchsurfing is a great way to meet like-minded people and locals. It also offers a great opportunity to learn more about the country from a locals perspective!

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy most types of music but have a great affection for music from the 70-80s (funk, soul and disco). When I was young, I learned to play some instruments and developed a life long love of classical music. I didn't have enough talent to make it but I still love it!
One of my favourite hobbies is going to the cinema to watch new releases. I think the cinema has a wonderful charm that is difficult to emulate at home. Among my favourite film makers are Wong Kar Wai, Michael Haneke and Jean Luc Goddard to name a few.
I spend a lot of time reading, I find I must read at least a little everyday be it fiction or nonfiction. Among many great authors, I have most enjoyed the work of Albert Camus, Jean Paul Sartre, Haruki Murakami, Helen Garner and Oliver Sacks.
I'm always on the search for new music, film and book suggestions!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I assisted in building an eco-house in the Andes overlooking Merida in Venezuela.
I have swam in the lagoon underneath the tallest waterfall in the world; Angel Falls!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would happily offer my availability / listening services to those that want to learn or practice their English (or Vietnamese but I think that would be quite rare!)
If you have some musical instruments (piano / guitar) available, we can learn some basics and have fun singing some songs.
I can offer some Asian cooking recipes and teach you how to cook them!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy cooking so I can prepare a meal or help out in the kitchen!
A good listener.
I will lend a hand with anything and everything if needed.
