Our family of 4 enjoys meeting new people. The children love having people over, especially if they have children and/or pets as we do accept trained pets and ones okay with children. We don't have pets ourselves but have accepted guests with pets before. The family enjoys playing games on various consoles and board games. We enjoy taking family trips whenever we can and visit local sights around our area/England. We liked England so much we stayed longer than anticipated. We love trying new foods and learning interesting facts; the girls love postcards, which we would appreciate if a guest brings one from their country or travels. If there are any questions, please do ask.
We do not get many opportunities to use Couchsurfing as a family but understand that based on the sheer idea of children, it can be scary, but I assure you my children are mild-mannered and respectful. We decided to give this another go after a nice travelling sister hosted us via another platform for the 1st time 2022. Plus, John Folan from Ireland hosted us and we met him via Couchsurfing, which has definitely left a positive experience.
We love hosting guests and have had 10 people at one go. Unfortunately, this was for a festival and the guests did not leave a reference. They were good guests for the one night and we had no issue, but it was unfortunate because we do rely on confirmed stays as our means to extend the verified membership. So we do ask guests to verify their stay and write a short review.
Vicki: I enjoy learning and experiencing different cultures, customs, and much more. I'm friendly, open, observant, and a bit shy. I am currently trying to travel with my kids within the community due to my husband's busy schedule.
Richard: I'm very keen on making new friends in places I have yet to discover. Culture has always been a large part of my life and I plan to learn the history, food, and languages of wherever I end up visiting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Vicki: Teach our children that every encounter leaves a mark and there are good people from around the world. Keeping an open mind is the best way to explore and broaden ones' horizon.
Richard: To meet new people and learn their respective lifestyles.
Interests
Vicki:
Food: As they say food is the best way to experience what a country has to offer.
Sightseeing: I enjoy being able to see the scenery and random finds.
Richard: Film, music, food, exercise. I love city lights and overall night life. Being able to share a lot of this with my family is something that I hold very dear.
Music, Movies, and Books
Vicki: horror films, thrillers, anime, K-Drama, and so forth for movies books I am fairly open but do lean towards thrillers and crime related books.
Richard: To be honest, I have way too many films to list. However, I enjoy everything from documentaries to mindless action films.
Jazz, 90s, classic rock, electronic house music, Celtic, and R&B are some of my favorite genres.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Vicki: Hiked up a mountain in Palawan (Sabang X Zipline) with a sprained foot to go zip lining; propelled off the side of a building.
Richard: Climbed nearly 900 stairs to see the Monastery in Petra, Jordan.
Teach, Learn, Share
Vicki: I want to hear the stories of your travels and experiences good, bad, weird, funny, and anything under the sun.
Richard: I try my best to learn the language of every country I visit; so I speak broken Spanish, Arabic, German, Italian, and Swedish. On top of English, I speak fluent Korean as well! I am always willing to share my culture of the United States all the way to the city of where I'm originally from.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Vicki: I can share my own experiences from past endeavors and possibly make you laugh with the random things I've encountered, done, and/or experienced. Our family will promise to be respectful and help tidy, converse, and board games if that is something you also enjoy.
Richard: My wife and I try to get to know our hosts or anyone we're meeting with prior to the meeting, that way we can offer something that we feel is more personal.
