Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I discovered Couchsurfing during my trip with my 2 children in 2014. I love to meet locals, get most up to date authentic information and learn local habits. Honest... free or low cost accommodation was a few years ago also an important aspect. Luckily is my financial situation better again but I still prefer CS above hotels etc. Every difficulty has his benefits. It made me even more strong, mindful and emphatic then I was. I'm hosting quite a lot of people in my house. Not that many people are interested in staying in Vosselaar but when I get a host request I try to host.

I have a nice job in a big health company and work for different organisations as volunteer. Helping people gives me a lot of energy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
2017:
Traveled a lot. Hosted by Karin Fedder for the 4th time. In the meantime she is a well known host for me. Thanks Karin for the always pleasant stays. Because of the unknown routes & quite often lack of internet I couldn't use CS that much. That's why I slept quite often in my bivak during my last mototrip.

December 2016:
We tried to find some host during our trip in India but probably because of the Christmas and New Year festivities we where not that successful. Extra problem... our roadmap was changing a lot so difficult to plan. Luckily we found most of the times cheap hotels to stay :-)

August 2016:
2 friends and me made a motorbike tour from Belgium to Italy. The search for nice people that would host us was again a great success. Thanks to our old and new CS friends.

Summer 2015, we where on couches in Schliengen, on our way to Italy.
We could stay in a house with friends nearby Lago Maggiore.
We wanted to see Venice... That was quite far from Valganna... so we went on couch for 3 nights in Vicenza to visit Venice from there :-)
On our trip back home we found a couch in Basel.
Thanks to our hosts!

Summer 2014 was our first CS-trip.
We met a lot of great people in Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Rokycany and Frankfurt.
Thank you hosts for everything!
Our tour around East Europe with my 2 daughters via CS was such a great experience, we will certainly do more CS and host more people in the future.

I hope to learn a lot more people knowing and hope to see eachother again.
Always welcome in Belgium - for some of you, "again" :-) !!!

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2015 I bought a moto, after more than 20 years looking forward to it! Made a really nice trip in 2016 with 2 moto mates. They did the biggest bungy jump in Europe (Nioc - CH) . I could only make the big swing because I was still revalidating from a knee surgery... Bungy looked thrilling, the swing was boring. I definitely will make a lot more moto trips - it is amazing and big fun. Thanks guy's!

I "was" very sportive in the past... but still suffering with my knees (and wrist)... Driving motorcycle I can still do! I try to ski, snowboard and climb still as much and as good as possible. All these things are still my passion.
I've seen many mountains. I saw also some seas because in the past I was also diving... Like to dive again.

As you see, always "work in progress" to do amazing things :-)

CS is great for upskilling languages, social behaviour and knowledge.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am really glad with my children, home mates and friends. Most of them are as social as I am. Also funny and smart - most of them more then I am :-P
When you will meet me with probably one or more from my children or friends, you will experience this and notice this is no bullshit I'm writing here :-D
