As student life is already hard enough as it is, accommodation is in my opinion the most practical and obvious thing to save money on :) During my travels over the past years I have met so many nice people with whom I am still in contact as of today, which is to me the most precious souvenir one can take. Thereby I have always preferred shared rooms + meeting others over a fancy and antisocial hotel.
