About Me
MISSION FROM 3 YEARS AGO.
My mission is to see Europe and learn all of its culinary secrets!
MISSION NOW:
Get my bachelor degree in International Food and Agribusiness. Meet new interesting people, learn more recipes!
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Kristine, but I go by KT. So far I have seen parts of England, Amsterdam, northern Portugal, Italy, and the Catalonian region of Spain. I still want to make my way through Europe to learn different culinary techniques. I love cooking almost as much as I love eating! I'm friendly and excited to meet new people who traveling.
PHILOSOPHY
Have you ever read The Alchemist? That is, basically, my religion. I also believe that what ever you put out into the world will come back to you, whether it be good or evil. So...it's better that it be good, right? If you look for kindness, and give it to others, it will be returned to you.
For example, whenever I find someone's belongings left behind at a train station or something, I make an effort to return it to the people or the nearest authorities. So far (and it has happened quite a bit) everytime I've lost something I've had it returned to me! That is pretty impressive when it is my purse which has basically my entire life and all my information in it.
People are so full of goodness. I know this, I've traveled. The people I am currently living with, however, they don't understand this. My boyfriend and his brother are afraid of all crazies out there.
Listen, I've traveled. I've had the good and bad experiences and thank god the bad has never been so bad. But that's exactly my point! I've traveled and done stupid things and lost my wallet and got that drunk and etc but you know what? I only met kindness out in that big scary world. Kindness and goodness. I believe in the good of the world. I believe for everyone one bad person there are a 100 good people. I believe it because I've experienced it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have yet to have any. I heard about this site from an Australian who had only the best to say about it.
UPDATE: I've had lunch with a French guy and stayed with a Portugese guy. So far, thanks to this site, I've had absolutely wonderful experiences. I'm very grateful Matt (the Australian) told me about this site.
UPDATE2015:
I used Couchsurfing while I was traveling Portugal, The Netherlands, and Spain. I had beautiful experiences in Portugal and the Netherlands, and one creepy experience in Spain.
I'm becoming a host because I have been settled down in Almere, The Netherlands for the past 2 years now. I have a secure life and a spare bedroom. I want to give back the kindness and pay it forward.
I'm a smoker (of marijuannnaaaaaaaaa) and my boyfriends a drinker (of beeerrrrrr) and therefore we are always looking to have a good time.
It's a full house though!
We live with my boyfriends brother, Michael.
Interests
I enjoy walking, cooking, reading, and sleeping. I also like going out in a city, I am young after all. haha
My dream day is one where I wake and bake, go to the van go musuem, walk around Amsterdam, come home, watch WALKING DEAD, cuddle and sleep.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm... This is hard. I was going to save this for a future experience, but the site insists that I do it before I can search for a place a host.
Once my boyfriend and I grabbed a blow up mattress and passed out outside. When we woke up the sun was rising and the feeling of happiness I felt was enough to leave me 'awestruck'.
Seeing the sun set over the grand canyon is absolutely amazing. The petrified forest in Arizona is something I suggest everyone sees at least once.
At the Natural Musuem in London there was an exhibit about a tree (which had grown in California) which was over 1500 years old. That blew my mind. The fact that some living creature could survive on this earth for so long...
Anyway. I hope soon I'll be able to add in an experience from couch surfing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I know alot about the organic lifestyle, since I WWOOF and believe strongly in it. I also know about culinary things and books. haha I probably can teach you more, but I can't think of it currently.
Learn: I would like to learn anything culinary you have to share. Even if you don't cook, you have grown up in a different culture than me so you have different foods! I want to know what your comfort food is and etc.
UPDATE2015:
Teach: I can teach you about food or farming! The health and nutrion of how you digest your food is extremely important knowledge, it affects everyone. I can teach you the best way to prevent diabetes. Each a chocolate bar every hour till the day you die, this trick will keep your blood level sugar while minimizing the role of insulin.
Very important stuff, eh?
Learn: I want to learn recipes. Are you not a good cook? No problem. Call up your mom and ask her for your favorite recipe! I can make it and you can tell me if I get it right :p
Share: blackberries. That's the trick. If you eat a handful of these before any sweet thing it will help to keep your blood level stable. Why? Blackberries are full of insoluable fiber.
The reason I'm sharing this information with you, now, instead of holding it hostage until you come couchsurf, is I believe you should share it with EVERYONE you know. Blackberries. Such a simple trick which will do any person at risk for diabetes a world of good. Eat a handful of blackberries as often as possible.
Also, I have a spare bedroom to share with anyone who wants. We have a kitchen and a bath.
