About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Oh, sorry if I failed, I just didn't catch that I'm ON A MISSION.

ABOUT ME

Holden Caulfield in a wrapper of 28 years old girl.

I'm kinda nomad. Vagabond. Gypsy. Always wanting for something else. Changing activities, dreams, goals, places... And I'm not sure if I ever find what I am looking for.

Part time I am superfriendly fellow full of glitters and idiotic sarcasm, part time I'm playing dead introvert. And these conditions can be switched unexpectedly. You should prepare to deal with the both of them ;)

Frankly speaking, I'm not one of these mysterious "local life experts". So if you're looking for someone like Master Yoda, who will guide you through time and space to the "secret, non-tourist, hidden places", I'm not the one to help you. When it comes to nontrivial tips about where to go or what to do, I'm much more Homer Simpson than Master Yoda. It's a painful truth.

PHILOSOPHY

According to the Beatitudes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cuz I find CS the best way to unite the split of our world. I really believe in kindness of the strangers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A little of experience, a lot of enthusiasm. Actually, that sounds like description of my life in general ;)

Interests

Oh, what if I say I love to lay down for the whole day dreaming of getting up and breaking the system?

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite writer is Chekhov. But I also enjoy reading Gogol, Dostoevsky, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Wilde, Ibsen, Nabokov, Brodsky, Foer and many others.

As for the music, I like The Smiths, Morrissey, Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, White Stripes, Siouxie Sioux, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division, Velvet Underground, She Wants Revenge, PJ Harvey, David Bowie, Queen, Radiohead, R.E.M, Queens of the Stone Age, Electric Six, TV on the Radio and some Russian bands you're not supposed to know: Aquarium, Grazhdanskaya Oborona, 2H Company, Makulatura, Mumiy Troll.

Cinema is the hardest part. I love cinema as an art and even attended a special course at the University. But it's difficult for me to compose the top-list. I like such movies as Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson, How I Ended This Summer by Alexey Popogrebskiy, Funny Games by Michael Haneke, Shallow Grave by Danny Boyle, Calvary by John Michael McDonagh, In Bruges by Martin McDonagh (but in few weeks I can give you an absolutely different list). Moreover, I should name Ingmar Bergman, Lars von Trier, Wes Anderson, Alexey Balabanov, Coen brothers, Jim Jarmusch, David Fincher, Hayao Miyazaki. Besides, I'm in love with cold aesthetics of black'n'white Hollywood movies of 30's and 40's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I accidently ate a fried cockroach 'cause it was in the pack of sunflower seeds... Russian food can be really exciting sometimes.

Well, I also crossed Pamir highway and reached Gobi desert by hitchhiking, but it's nothing in compare with eating a cockroach ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Tell me about your way of discovering the world, about your own path of surviving here. Teach me to notice the beauty of everyday things (oh, that sounds as if I was the author of "American beauty" monologues :\).

I'm a bit of self-control maniac, so it would be cool to learn how to be more easy-going and happy-go-lucky. Like have you ever missed your flight back cuz you felt hopelessly in love with the place? That's exactly what I'm talking about. Life begins outside of comfort zone.

Besides, I'm looking forward to discover local cuisines. Please teach me to cook typical dishes of your region or share your favourite recipes. In return I can teach you some Russian specialities.
