About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Becoming the highest education person who lives in a tent in the woods.

ABOUT ME

Midwest-born but mountain-addicted. When I'm not sciencing I'm outside running, hiking, biking, hammocking, bouldering, snowboarding, and always with my dog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Gatherings, mainly.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've mainly organized and participated in social gatherings, but once I get settled down in a place, I would love to host.

Interests

I'm an activist in terms of human rights issues. I've committed much of my volunteer time to organizations that serve soldiers/veterans, victims of human trafficking, victims of assault/abuse, animal rehabilitation, and other causes. I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus on PTSD and traumatic brain injuries in the military; big believer in wilderness therapy!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I'll confess to not being a big movie watcher -- chances are you've seen more reruns of movies/shows than I've seen total! That said, my favorite movie will forever be Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Music: I'm into Mumford-y type music, also Tom Petty, also country. I get can into almost anything.

Books: Catch-22. Unbroken. How to Win Friends and Influence People (yes, that's right)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the 220-mile John Muir Trail this past summer.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can read music and play piano. I love to bake; please let me bake for you! I can speak intermediate German. I'm a total nerd when it comes to grammar and editing. I can talk your face off about psychology, PTSD, human trafficking, dogs, and topics that involve a lot of "Dude, what if...?!" interjections. If you're interested, I can also teach you the basics of most U.S. sports, and then convert you into a Packers fan.

Learn: I want to learn everything, so teach me whatever you can.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Tunisia, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
