About Me

I'm Laura and I am addicted to traveling. They say the first part is admitting the problem.
I am a very hardworking and dedicated person (to friends, family, and work), but I like to unwind and release my mind by traveling to new places and meeting new people.
I firmly believe that you only learn who you are by traveling by yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have just quit my job as a personal trainer at an elite gym in New York City (which I loved) to pursue my doctorate in clinical psychology.
I have decided to take a few weeks to travel before I start this 5 year long journey, and to enhance my experience, I would love to meet new people of various cultures along the way.
Meeting new people will not only make me richer as a person and will not only enhance my trip, but as I begin studying to become a psychologist, it will make me a better clinician to learn from people of difference cultures. Please help me to become a better person!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an eclectic taste in music so there is nothing better than going to a music festival with all different genres and up and coming artists. I love classic rock, punk rock, alternative, and admittedly I like pop as well. (But sorry to those Taylor swift fans out there, but I don't like her. Or Justin bieber.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two gap years in Israel before going to college. In my second year, I worked as a counselor in a children's home for abused kids. I was a counselor to Israeli children, Palestinian children, Russian children, Canadian children, and Ethiopian children. It was such a mix of cultures and was a tough experience but was a truly remarkable year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always be the first to say hello to someone and to be the first to say sorry.
That's not a quote but I think both things will make you and those around you much happier.
