I'm a friendly and respectful Canadian living in Central Otago, NZ, immersing myself in the wine industry. In late 2018 I left a 10 year marketing career in Toronto to spend the last two years of my early/mid 30s working in wine regions around the world (thanks to easy access to working holiday visas until 35! :) I'm now training to be a sommelier, and will be in Australia soon to attempt the exam for the first time. When I'm not pouring over maps of wine regions or pouring wine, you can find me cooking up a storm or baking delicious treats, learning to ride my motorcycle, hiking in the mountains or swimming in the lake. If I have access to a coast all the better! I love the ocean and could spend the rest of my life learning to surf (anyone want to teach me how to turn that into a career??) I speak fluent English and mostly fluent Spanish and French, though I'm getting rusty with those two since I never really practice anymore. Let's practice together!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
We've recently had a few people stay with my flatmate and me, in sort of an unofficial couchsurfing situation and it was such a cool way to meet people and be a little part of their travels! Since I'll be travelling solo from Sydney to Brisbane in the coming weeks I thought I'd see how this goes.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - my tastes range from Johnny Cash & Tom Petty to Fetty Wap & Bad Bunny. But I'm usually listening to artists like K. Flay, Billie Eilish or Jessie Reyez. Movies - quirky comedies like the Royal Tenenbaums or The Grand Budapest Hotel, and super cheesy rom coms are my go tos. Books - fave author is Rohinton Mistry (try Tales from Firozsha Baag!). Also love Murakami and Margaret Atwood.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Excellent wine & food pairing ideas! I'll cook you a fab dinner and introduce you to some cool wine if you'd like. Also down for pretty much any outdoor or water-focused activity!
