About Me

I prefer math to writing, yet I'm very creative. I grew up in "The South" yet most people guess I'm from "The North" or Europe (??). I have a degree in theatre, yet I have massive stage fright. I'm a homebody, yet I'm homeless (though I prefer the term "homeful").

The list goes on of little curiosities that make up the oxymoron that is me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not going to lie, its a lot about money. I'm hoping to travel for a year, but the budget is super tight. The bonus is that I get to meet local people, hear their stories, and learn about a new culture in an immersive environment.

Interests

I'm a seeker of experiences. Color and light are my media. Food is the key to the soul.

I've been working in theatre for 9 years. My job is to care for actors and their costumes. It is a job that requires skills in engineering, organization, and creative problem solving, all of which I love!

I see the world as a giant canvas, and everything on it as the brush strokes of man or nature. Some people are better at painting than others. Nature always gets it right.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie soundtracks speak to my soul. They penetrate deeper and release pent up emotions better than any other music for me. That being said, I can listen and enjoy just about anything, except country. My top choices are How to Train Your Dragon, The Kongos, and Imagine Dragons.

I'm all over the map with movies. I tend to like smart movies over dumb humor. I love a good action movie, but also a warm chick-flick. As someone who basically has a degree in storytelling, I can be fairly analytical and critical of movies (and theatre), but can also appreciate when something is really well done. Animated movies are really my jam! How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled, Prince of Egypt...<3

Books:
Fantasy/Sci-fi. YA. Harry Potter.

Self-help/Psychology

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've tried to live an intentional life, following what I believe will make me feel fulfilled. Instead of following what society and conventional pressures say is the "right" way to live. Because of that, I have visited all 50 of the United States; lived in NYC for 3+ years, then sold all my belongings to live out of a backpack; and loved a man so deeply, but ultimately had to let him go. I think that's pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to sew, organize any space, rearrange furniture, and/or improve your photography, or edit video.

I love to learn about cultural etiquette, and any simple recipes of local food.

I have several forms of social media that I use to share photos, videos, and stories from my travels and life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Any skills or knowledge I have acquired over the years. I can repair your clothes or have a philosophical discussion. My company, whether just enjoying a meal together, a late nite chat, or early morning yoga (though probably not both in a 24 hour period). My journey: I can share stories from my life and travels.
