About Me

UPDATE 2018: Will go to Leeds, UK for study for one year in this September. Love to know some Britons.
UPDATE 2015: I can HARDLY accept last-minute request. Please try to leave your request at least 2 weeks (better 3 weeks) prior to the date you want to start staying at my place. Also, please specifically let me know why you want to stay with me (don't forget my job is interviewing people:).

CURRENT MISSION

To be a globetrotter--life is so short but the world is so big and fascinating. I hope to travel as widely as I can in my lifetime and make my travels more valuable to me and to the others--making more friends and learning more from them, helping more people and experiencing more incredible/unforgettable things.

ABOUT ME

I live in Beijing for 14 years by now. Living in a populism and autocratic country-the only regrettable thing for me being a Chinese-I can normally judge a thing with cosmopolitan perspective and always hold universal values which most people (hopefully I am not over-optimistic) also cherish in common: integrity, equity, democracy, humanity and freedom. And, I am a supporter and advocator of the efforts to China's democracy, human rights and freedom.

PHILOSOPHY

People say "No Pays, No Gains." but I say"you pay not for gains--the God will reward you for a day". (And, if you intentionally do something evil, you will be punished eventually.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One of my close friends who now lives in Lyon, France introduced this website to me--he said, with his understanding of me, I am supposed to join this community and I will surely enjoy it!--So far, that's true!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been luckiy hosted for 3 times in NYC, Wshington DC (technically Arlington, VA) and Chicago-all hosts were very nice to me and their hospitality showed the essence of Couchsurfing Community. Then I hosted surfers for a couple of times as a return to the community. Doing CS is a great opportunity for me practicing my mission and polishing my English:)

Interests

Biking, hiking (in mountain area), rowing and sometimes playing badminton.
Delicious food ( I call myself a gourmet but a lazy one, so, just sometimes cook:). I like to try nice reaustants and sushi is one of my favoriates.
Travelling/sightseeing (of course), hanging out with friends, politics and movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Currently I listen to Coldplay, James Blunt, Maroon Five, Jason Mraz...
Movie: I always like the ones from Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino...Also I like some French and German movies, say Amelie Poulin, Das Leben der Anderen.
TV Series: I am a big fun of Morden Family, Friends and House of Cards (Kevin Spacey really kick ass!)
Book: ....travel magzines and National-Geography type of things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once got interviewed by the Toronto Star. The process lasted 4 days from Beijing to my hometown and from my old dwelling to my current apt and even my office! I got chance to have a glance at how a professional journalist put together a story...
I participated a civil action to raise money for Mr. AI Weiwei, who's the most famous and provoctive artist and dissident in China and got framed up and fined by the government with a lame accusation of "Tax Fraud"--I felt proud that 30,000 of us raised 9 million RMB in 10 days! And then I received a specially-designed "IOU" from him as a thank-you token!

Teach, Learn, Share

About to teach:Of course I can teach you Chinese-I speak Chinese with very standard accent and I once did language-exchange with foreign friends for years. Of course, I am open to show you my options for China’s society, politics, the HR practice and what I know about the world.
About to learn: I hope you can teach me English, cooking share your life experiences and perspectives.

What I Can Share with Hosts

About to share: I am a good listener and always inquisitive to the outside world and I'd like to tell you anything (almost:) I know about my country, Beijing, my occupation and my personal experience.
