ABOUT ME

I think I'm an open minded, respectful, generous and responsible guy. I like to meet new people, learn about them and understand their cultures. And have fun in the process, of course! CS is probably one of the best ways I've found to do all that :)

I'm quite calm, so maybe that's why I like to be with (a bit) crazy people that offer a contrast! Calm does not mean boring, or at least I hope so! :D
I also tend to be called smart-ass by my best friends, but that's just because I tease them :P

I'm not a very big speaker (it's not like I don't open my mouth in 2h either), but I tend to speak only when I think I have something interesting or fun to say. I am however a quite good listener, and love to hear (somewhat interesting) stories from other people :)

I was born in Switzerland, but I haven't been there for a long time. I traveled a lot with my parents when I was a kid (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, etc.) and we ended up in this little island, where my parents opened a restaurant. Since then (24 years ago) I've been living here, studying and then working as a tourism software engineer.

The restaurant thing might have to do with is food being of the things I like best. But I think I remember liking to eat before that, so it's probably just something I've been enjoying forever! Consequence of that, when I choose a place to travel, the culinary experience the country has to offer is usually a big plus :D.
I like to bring my friends / couchsurfers to great places to eat, and I love it when locals bring me to their favourite places.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to give the people that come home a different side of Mallorca than the one the usual tourist gets, going to some less crowded places, and nice spots I got to know in my time here. Of course if I'm working I won't be able to show you much, but at least I'll try to give you some advice about where to go (and where NOT to go ...).

If you come during the "cold" season, I also enjoy a lot hiking and sometimes organize some hikes in the dedicated group (Mallorca Hiking Adventure). In summer, beach replace hikes :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted around 60 people since I started, and I've travelled quite a lot (Bulgaria, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, etc.) to visit back some friends I made during my time hosting :)
I've met some truly great people, made good friends and I'm looking forward to continue with the experience, and continue travelling around the world!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM COUCHSURFING
I'm being forced to add this section after July / August 2018. The amount of requests of people that have no money whatsoever and expect CS hosts to be their "free hostel" is almost literally in the hundreds every month. Yes, the planes ticket are cheap, but PLEASE check the accommodation prices before purchasing them, there is a limited number of hosts in Mallorca and it will be impossible to host everybody, nor you should expect CS to cover the whole of our expenses during your stay. CS being free is nice, but it's not its main interest, please keep this in mind when sending a request.
