About Me

I love yoga, partner dancing, improv, yummy eats (no dietary restrictions), a great cup of coffee, and a beautiful beach.

If you are in Austin, TX on a Thursday and want a free thing to do, go to Anything Live at The Institution Theater. Show starts every week at 8pm. https://www.facebook.com/AnythingLiveATX/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Want to see more of the world but a teacher's salary limits my options for accommodations. Besides that, I believe the best way to experience a new place is to make friends with the locals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore soulful blues music, especially strong female vocalists i.e. Etta James, Aretha Franklin.

Huge fan of the Hitchhikers Triology, the Divergent Series, and the Tao of Pooh are some of my favorites. My shevles are stacked with a variety of poetry, novels, self-improvement, and most of my books from university. I also have a children's section in my personal library. I have a couple of bookworms for nieces.

Movies are great (except horror) and I could watch short films all day (unless there's the promise of dancing or a beach I can explore). Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller, and Breakfast at Tiffany's make some of the best rainy day movies. I've probably seen all of the Disney Movies; did I mention I have nieces? I will admit that I saw Moana by myself in Seattle while trying to kill some time before my flight home. I didn't cry, you did!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Simply being alive!

I'm not sure that I've done anything amazing. I just do what I feel I am meant to do and do it when the opportunity presents it self. I've had many experiences throughout life that have taught me lessons about the world and myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will always be a student of life but I will share the knowledge fomr my 500hr RYT to anyone that wants to practice yoga. I concentrate on awareness, injury prevention, meditation, and targeting muscle groups for maintenance and strength building. I also teach Childrens Yoga.

By profession, I'm an SEL Teacher (Social Emotional Learning) but I'm not a babysitter and I don't do poopy diapers. That said I help home school my nieces. When we are together, we work on English Language Arts, rhythm through dancing, fitness and mental health with yoga, Chemistry in the kitchen, and, because I'm not big on television but understand that it can be useful, we watch documentaries about history. Some of our favorites to watch are the Cosmos, anything about evolution and dinosaurs, and for fun, the background development of animated films and cartoons. One of my nieces has a difficult time sitting still, therefore we incorpoate a large element of make believe and utilizing the imagination throughout our activities. Play is a big part of cognitive development, it can calm the mind and make focusing easier.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my yoga practice and my go with the flow attitude. At times I've been known to share the gift of laughter as well. I also love to cook. I will cook anything and if I've never made it before, I would love to learn!
