About Me
Hello! My name is Liesje, I was born in 1989.
My parents introduced me to travelling when I was very young (12 years) and since then the passion of traveling never went away...
I have been travelling the world alone or with friends since I was 20 years old.
I think it is the best learning school to travel, because you fall into new experiences every time, and you need to deal with them...
Since a while I have been very interested in meditation and yoga, discovering my spiritual path... I was in India in 2016, were i followed many courses like meditation, yoga, massage, reflexology, ayurveda...
Now traveling to California to do a vipassana meditation course.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because i like to meet and connect with new people, hear about their expierences, share with them.
I could every time when I travel go into a hostel, but I think you learn more if you stay with locals, because they know more the culture, the way of life there, the 'local' things to do, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Its not really an amazing I HAVE DONE, but more one amazing thing i witnessed...
I was in French Guyana, South America, sitting on a deserted beach, put my hammock on a deserted hostel, and went to the beach because there were giant leatherback turtles lying their nest.
I was sitting on the beach in the dark, with a candle next to me, got stung by a million mosquitoes, when suddenly i felt sometimes bumping into me...
I looked, and there were 8 little turtles coming from their eggs to go into the see.
I led them to see and saw them swimming away.
After this I walked home (to my hammock) until I bumped into a giant mother leatherback turtle, lying her eggs on the beach... I sat next to her, enjoyed the sounds she was making, witnessed the whole spectacle, until she was ready and swam back into the sea... When she started swimming, she lighted up, and I could follow her for hundreds of meters into the sea, because of the algue!
What an amazing nature moment I will never forget!
