It's a great way to travel and meet interesting people. I like the give and take attitude couch surfers have as well. We are groups of people doing favors for each other and bonding along the way. Great people all trying to see the world on a budget

The experience that immediately comes to mind is when some friends and I biked from Savannah to Orlando. It was cloudy most of the trip except for one night when the sky cleared up and revealed the stars. Luckily, we were nowhere near any cities this night. I was seeing the night sky with no light pollution for the first time in my life. I felt euphoria, a gratefulness about my existence, and gained a fresh perspective on the place of Earth within this universe. Update: Definitely section hiking the AT (8/2018)
