About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am busy getting educated. Getting so excited from my art appreciation class that I want to make a trip to Europe to touch many of the things I'm learning about.
ABOUT ME
I've don'e all the things a woman of my generation was "supposed" to do. Got married. Had kids. Got divorced. Worked in corporate America selling high tech computer produces and had other mundane occupations until I retired March, 2007. Living the ordinary life then ended. Since retirement I have gotten so much younger and so much happier as now I have the time to walk about the planet. My goal now is to be happy every minute of my life. And why the hell not? So far it's working extremely well. I have this wild idea that I know everybody and I just love to go anywhere (preferably outside the USA) and get better acquainted with my friends. I have turned my passion for travel and adventure into a book (Get Packing: If Not Now When?) to encourage other senior citizens to have as much fun as they can possibly manage in their lifetime. Read about that and another book of mine at my website: www.lindadeblanco.com
PHILOSOPHY
The glass is 3/4 full. It only looks half full. I would have to say my personal philosophy is to be as much a Polyanna as I can pull off. Maintain a positive mental attitude is an understatement for me. Laughing and smiling are, in my opinion, the most important things I have to do in any given day. Whatever or whoever doesn't support my philosophy will, in no time at all, see my back as I don't let the door slam on it as I exit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Going to Paris, Rome, Spain March 2017 and might need a place to stay. Have a wonderful unused loft in my home in Guatemala where some adventurer is welcome to stay for a bit while enroute to wherever.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Became a member years ago but never got around to using the services of Couchsurfing. Heard good things from many people I've met along the path.
Interests
I am most interested in doing exactly as I please. So far, since I retired the end of March, 2007 I have been very successful with this interest. Sounds a bit selfish? Well, so what? After working for 50 years I think anyone should feel entitled to do exactly as they please. I am also very interested in staying healty and fit for as long as I can possibly manage to do that. I decided the only way to be middle-aged at my age is to live to 130 so that's what I'm aiming for.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like Michael Moores movies although they get my dander up a bit. I especially liked "Sicko" because it showed me what I already suspected. That Americans are buying the propaganda about how lucky we should feel about out healthcare system, even though we are way down the line in having great healtcare. My philosophy is to just stay healthy and don't get hurt and everything will be fine. So, along those lines I also loved "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About". More evidence that the Food and Drug Administration would rather we be sick than well we Americans are being fed accordingly.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I have seen in my life is not one thing but the dynamics of many. That would be observing the power of our minds to make things happen in our lives. This includes everything from making sales (if you happen to be in that kind of racket) to finding parking places, finding perfect places to live, perfect synchronicity in travel arrangements, maintaining great health, solving endless kinds of problems and the list goes on and on. The power to "intend" and manifest what we want is probably the the most amazing thing I've ever seen in all my many days.
Teach, Learn, Share
My greatest passion in life is seeing the good side of it pretty much ALWAYS. It's possible to achieve this goal even when the most terrible things happen. For example, while I was last in Guatemala I received word that my 41 year-old son passed away. He suffered from bi-polar disorder and addictions and I spent many, many years worried sick about him. When I learned he passed away I put my positive mental attitude to the test and discovered that even with something this terrible I could still find peace. The challenges of coming out the other end of this tragedy smiling are something I know I can share with others that might help them through their own life traumas.
