Overview
About Me
I’m Liz, a mother of three and a grandmother of three, and for the past 45 years I’ve been living in a lovely English market town called Stamford, and working from home as a private tutor.
We always travelled a lot as a family in the summers (and whenever possible!) and the highlight of the year was packing up the car for a couple of months driving around Europe. I continue to nurture my own travel plans, and visit my family in the different countries they’ve settled in.
At home, I spend plenty of time in our shared allotment, and often have guests round - I like to have a full house!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
These days, after losing my wonderful husband a couple of years ago, our house feels rather big for me - and since I love having nice guests at home, I am happy to give Couchsurfing a try. Two of my children have used it lots as surfers, and have recommended me to try hosting. This spring (2025) I celebrated my 70th with a fabulous trip from Georgia through Turkey to Greece with my daughter, and we stayed a few nights with Couchsurfing hosts. I was very touched by their openness and generosity, and am keen to be part of the scene. I will be interested to have other travellers come to stay, and happy to either show them around or give local advice and a bed if I am short on time.
Interests
Reading, gardening, travelling, cooking, time with friends: the usual good things in life.
Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot - usually novels and classics, and am always happy to take recommendations. Our house is full of books!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Many wonderful travel experiences come to mind. This sounds like a good topic for a conversation rather than a paragraph here!
Teach, Learn, Share
After so many years cooking for my family I have plenty of recipes up my sleeve, and would love to try new things from other countries if guests fancy using my kitchen. I try to eat a low carb diet, and usually vegetarian, but this is flexible!
I am new to Couchsurfing and interested to learn how the system works, and I am always very curious about other countries and people’s experiences living there.
If I have beds spare, and if the timing works for my schedule then I would be happy to share my home for a few days.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m an easy guest - neat and ready to help!
