CURRENT MISSION
live life to its fullest
ABOUT ME
Grew up in NYC. Spent about 7 years in LA, CA before making Los Altos my home. Raised 3 kids as a stay at home mom, and then started teaching for money.
Was actively involved with teaching environmental education leading lots of field trips in the SF Bay area for almost 20 years while my kids were growing up. Was active in community organizations dealing with the environment, peace and politics.
For the last 8 years I have been exploring and traveling more, developing a different life that I love, which includes spending time with grandchildren, trying new things (going to Burning Man for 5 years), going on solo hikes, visiting friends around the USA, always open to making new connections and contacts.
I love my teaching job where I work with kids ages 5-10.
PHILOSOPHY
Life begins new each day. We are always at choice. Clarity in communication and openness leads to better relationships.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I travel I hope to connect with others by couch surfing, adding to my experience of a new city or country, beyond sightseeing. My home is also open to travelers. I love meeting new people, and hosting. I have loved staying in hostels, and used them while traveling alone. Now there is couch surfing!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When traveling in USSR 20 years ago, a family opened their home to us when some plans fell through. They took in 5 of us, and we slept all over their apartment for 4-5 days. Their warmth, hospitality, and generosity were phenomenal, sharing food and life experiences.
For years we opened our house to people needing a place to stay...sleeping on the couch for up to a month at a time. Being there for others in need can be rewarding for all.
Interests
Love the out of doors, biking, hiking, going new places, trying new things. Love looking at art, listening to music, dancing...creative outlets.

Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favorite movies is "Run Lola Run". I don't read much poetry, but love novels. Find an author, read several of their books, then find another author and read a bunch of their books. Very eclectic in my music taste.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite experiences was to hike in Yosemite by myself for 2 days. I was over 60 at the time, had been raised in NYC and lived in suburbia raising a family and working. It was fantastic to be alone, walking at 6,000-9,000 feet, with vistas of mountains, rocks, rivers, waterfalls, relying only on myself.
