Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see the entire world, and to meet many people along the way.
ABOUT ME
I grew up kind of all over the United States; my family moved a lot because my Dad is an officer in the US Coast Guard. Therefore, I bring with me mix of many of the subcultures within the US; I have lived in California, Massachusetts, D.C/Northern Virginia, spent a summer in Wisconsin and my mom is from Alabama, so really I have both coasts, the Midwest and the South. Then I also attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada, for four years, so I bring a bit of French-Canada with me too. Right now I'm living in Munich, Germany, where I'm working as an au pair for a year in order to learn German and travel as much of Europe as I possibly can over the next 11 months. I'm also really interested in meeting new people here in Munich, as my job and limited German-speaking abilities have really prevented me from making many friends.
PHILOSOPHY
e.e. cummings sums it up best:
"for life's not a paragraph
And death I think is no parenthesis"

Interests
I'm a really outdoorsy person, and prefer to spend my time playing sports (especially lacrosse), running and I've also recently gotten really into hiking (I'd love to meet people who would be interested in climbing more of the Alps with me... they're so close and all). But, none of that means I don't enjoy sitting down for a cold beer... often. And when sitting down for said beer, I really enjoy listening to other people's stories, especially travel stories, and am happy to share my own. I'm also interested in literature, poetry and philosophy, so if you want to be a total nerd with me feel free. I'm interested in music, though I can't play it to save my life, especially a wide variety of rock, so I find concerts really fun. I'm also always down for a good film, but I prefer to avoid the Hollywood blockbusters and the outrageous ticket prices associated with them, so if you know of any good B-film cinemas, do share.
When it comes to traveling, I really enjoy trying the local cuisine (I will try anything), getting a feel for the culture and just having fun. Tourism really isn't all that important to me, though I do enjoy a good history lesson when its convenient- and by convenient I mean it doesn't mean pushing my way through crowds of tourists in order to get it. I prefer the quieter places, the places that are not so well-known, and love having locals to show me where those hidden gems are.
