About Me

Through hard work, determination, and a lot of luck Valerie and I have spent five of the last ten years on the road. Our journey has taken us through 61 countries on 6 continents. We have dived in the deepest oceans and wandered amongst the tallest mountains.

For us life is about learning and having fun. Travel brings both into our lives, it also helps us find a reason to dance, be with silly crazy people, have great conversations, and find jaw dropping beauty.

We have many great stories to share but we are eager to listen. This world is filled with an incredible cast of characters! Learning about new people is an honor and a privilege.

Couchsurfing has brought us lasting friendships, and that is why we are here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

All of our couchsurfing experiences have resulted in a new and lasting friendship.

Couchsurfing helps us meet amazing people. Our hosts give us valuable perspective into their local cultures.

We love to share the jokes, lessons, recipes, and knowledge we have accumulated in our lives. As travelers we all work together and help each other. That brotherhood is alive in couchsurfing.

Interests

Valerie and I were divemasters in Indonesia. We have spent thousands of hours underwater. Komodo, Mozambique, and the Galapagos islands are some of the places we have dived.

I am an avid photographer and even when I'm not taking pictures I am fascinated by light.

Valerie is a voracious reader. She usually reads a book every week!

Hiking and climbing are always part of our travels. Some of our favorite places to hike are Nepal, Patagonia, Utah, and New Zealand. I rock climb as much as I can. Valerie climbed her first "real" mountain in Bolivia last year - it was 6,088m or 19,976ft tall!

Teach, Learn, Share

Our travels have taught us so many things. We can offer advice about traveling on every continent and we have many thoughts on what it means to be human..

The USA is an amazing country for travel. Many people think it will be very expensive but with the right tricks, and friends, it can be done on a tiny backpacker's budget. I know of some amazing secret places that visitors never see.

Valerie and I have built a large network of friends throughout the world. It is a wonderful thing to put people together that can help each other.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are respectful and clean guests. Valerie and I have very different backgrounds and perspectives. You will get something different from each of us. We always want things to be as easy as possible for our hosts. We can easily entertain ourselves if you are busy. Food is a big passion for us and when possible we love to cook for our hosts (we can prepare dishes from all over the world)
