About Me

I come from the Norfolk countryside, UK, but am currently living in a small city called Nakatsu, in Oita, Japan. I love being outside, hiking, skiing, swimming in lakes/rivers/the sea, camping, cooking on a camping stove...
I have a master's in comparative literature, with specialism in contemporary postcolonial Italian writing.
I am extremely curious about everything and everyone and ask a lot of questions!
I'm honest with myself and expect others to do the same.

I've had various experiences living and working in different countries, including a ski season in St. Anton, Austria; 4 seasons working on a farm in the Norwegian fjords; teaching English in an international school in Catalunya, Spain; Erasmus study in Verona, Italy; WWOOFing in south Japan

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet all kinds of people, and can host if anybody happens to be coming to Nakatsu! Nakatsu is a small city, and a great insight into "normal" provincial Japanese life. The food is great. Nakatsu is sandwiched between the ocean and the mountains - within an hour or so you can be at hundreds of different hiking trails with some of the best views and most mystical forests I've ever seen. We are close to Yabakei, a beautiful area of rural Japan. This is a long long way from Tokyo and 'real' Japan...
