About Me

I hail from Panama and I backpack while working!

That's about all there is to it. I'm quite easy-going, outspoken and strive to be honest in every way I can. I do freelance design for clients abroad while traveling and have been exploring the world while getting paid for almost 3 years now.

I'm down for a good party, good food and meeting new people. I love traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been backpacking for little over 3 years now and while I enjoy staying at hostels and meeting many travelers at the same time, I would much rather get to know locals or revisit friends I've met along the road in their home countries.

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet people who can give me better insight into the world they live in and hopefully have fun in the process.

Interests

As a freelance designer and illustrator I'd say I'm pretty much open to a lot of interests in many different levels. Usually if I find an activity to be creative or alternative I'll be more drawn to it, sometimes simply because it's new.

After traveling for lone, I'd say my main interest is just to have good experiences with people. I feel like people matter most. You can be in paradise with shitty people and not have a good time at all or you can be in a less than stellar place with fun loving people and something good will surely come out of it all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tough one! My fav book is probably Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, followed by Jack Kerouac's Big Sur. Granted, both books took me months to finish reading, because I'm super slow.

Movies and music is a whole other thing that will not fit in here. I just like listening to anything and see how I like it. I can listen to hip-hop, salsa, deep house, J-pop, old 70s rock and most other stuff out there really. For movies I can think of favorites in a lot of genres so I'll leave that answer open-ended.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bathed an elephant in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I really wanted to do this when I stayed for two months in the country and to this day it's one of the experiences I'll always have in my heart.

There are other stories I can share which involve explosions, high-speed motorbike chases and girls in bikinis with machine guns, but I like to think the elephant story is pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: drawing! I draw lots and like to share what I can. Learn: local cooking and languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make really good baked chicken. Also, I generally bring either a small bottle of caribbean hot sauce or a bottle of Seco (a Panamanian strong alcohol) for my host.

Since I'm working while traveling, I can teach some of what I know about design and illustration. I can also help clean around the house if needed. I'm pretty good at washing dishes the old fashioned way.
