ABOUT ME

What do you get if you take the heroism of Garibaldi, the intellect of Feynman, the ingenuity of Tesla, the feeling of Pessoa and the fortitude of Dostoyevsky? Well you probably wouldn't get me though I'd like to think this would be a fair approximation of my moral fiber. But in the end I do share the curiosity of Feynman, the disregard of convention of Tesla, the uncertainty of Pessoa, the sloth of Garibaldi and the destructive introspection of Dostoyevsky. But then I suppose we all do. Each of these men express something innate in the detail of man, each spent their lives persuing in its most truthful guise the best expressions of what it means to be human.
If I can emmulate such brilliance for a moment of my life then I could feel a sense of achievment. Goals are importent something to keep me going
though usually I settle for something a little easier like another beer or making it to end of a long bus ride when your bladders full as a grapefruit
without leaking a drop.

PHILOSOPHY

It changes so often i've lost track; i'm still finding my way, but the more people i meet the better i understand what i believe. its not my words but i believe in them wholly-"the good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge"

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well I've hosted before and of course I've used a few couches, in fact the last few years I've gotten so used to sleeping on couches/doorways/showers that when I finally got a job back in England my body positively recoiled when I lay down at night on the smooth mattress at my house. I used to part own a hostel in Marrakesh and lets say plenty of people there managed a free night or two (even if it did entail sleeping a store room!) - But the best way to get involved is to get out there and meet some decent folk.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Don't extensively couch surf but every time I have stayed with someone or had someone stay with me good times seem to have conspired. I'm yet to have a bad time or even a mediocre time. It's been a while since I've been involved so I'm hoping that the experience will be as rich as before.

Intereses

Nature, to contend with the powerful beauty of the world around us.

Any literature which makes me want to do the very thing the author's writing about straight away.
Origins of languages and anthropology.
Humanism, the struggle for man to develop in harmony with his limitations and to reconcile art with science.

Música, películas y libros

Stalker, Andre Rublev, Solaris - Satoshi Kon films - Anything samurai based especially Twilight Samurai - Apu trilogy...anyway you get the picture most of the confirmed classics tickle my fancy.
And books-well i'll never tire of the 3 Levis' (Peter, Primo and Carlo), Katzanakis, Graham Greene, and Bertrand Russell is a veritable god for me.
I'm a fairly voracious reader and feel lost without a book - right now I'm swatting up of pre-Inca cultures and archaeology but when I'm not on the road I have to be in a book.
Well music....I dont have a genre I prefer most I used to tell people I like folk but then all this mumford and sons shit started to appear and folk became a paltry attempt to blend stadium anthems with garden walk lyrics. as a brief selection...electralane, fiery furnaces, dirty proj., Mr Young and Cohen and a host of jolly others. And thanks to one remarkable friend I'm starting to rather like Chopin.

Too hard, i can't pin point any in particular. I still think its pretty amazing every time i fly over a mountain range, though i guess thats a pretty mundane great thing to have done.

I hope that everything I will do or be will be more amazing than that which came before.

So for now let's just pretend i wrestled a polar bear, that was pretty intense.
