About Me
ABOUT ME
I enjoy a good conversation and I like to challenge ideas and to think. I don't like people that get easily offended. I love having dinner with friends while enjoying a glass of Bordeaux.
Some other known facts: I do illustrations (http://melaniefranzart.com/), love reading and music, boardgames, sports, the outdoors, especially aerial hoop, and travelling.
I like the little things in life, those you normally take for granted. I think life is an exciting journey and I'm always curious to see what is hidden behind the next corner.
ABOUT US
I live together with my partner Samuel (and our daughter who arrived in November 2022) and together we have been hosting many people in the past. He is Swiss and an unapologetic history nerd, outdoor enthusiast, and passionate cook and beer brewer. If you send a couch request please address it to both of us (Mel and Sam) as we both will be your hosts. If you don't, I probably wont reply.
We don't just offer "free accommodation" but we actually would like to get to know the people that stay with us and connect. If you are coming to Reykjavik for a festival, please stay at a hostel! For this reason please put at least some effort into reading through the profile.
Please no wokeists, cultists, and activists.
PHILOSOPHY
It is what it is.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Surfed my way from Stockholm to Oslo.
In the past I have slept on so many couches, floors and benches of friends and the friends of friends and people I didnt know.... I´m not picky as long as I can have a shower in the morning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oslo bay, wind and view. Mainly the wind.
The view from the summit of one of the highest mountains in Ireland (Kerry). That we acutaly made it to the top was amazing as well:)
The forest near Jyväskylä (Finland) where I got lost by bike. Magical place where you can start to believe in fairies.
A huge dark funny shaped cloud that turned out to have lots of water....
Teach, Learn, Share
How to cook things from scratch.
To stay calm even though you should be freaking out.
To smear lots of paint on a big white canvas.
