About Me

Hello and welcome to my page! I’m Liubomyr, a dreamer and traveller at heart, originally from Ukraine but currently broadening my horizons in Slovakia (not to be confused with Slovenia 😅). My love for exploring new horizons was born from hours spent watching Discovery Channel and National Geographic, imagining the thrill of setting foot in those wondrous places. Today, I live that dream.

I thrive on meeting and engaging with new people, diving deep into the enriching pool of cultural exchange, and continually broadening my knowledge. Studying International Relations, I have a keen interest in politics and international affairs, which marries perfectly with my love for travel. This unique combination allows me to explore the world not just through sights, but through conversations and experiences.

My language palette includes English and Spanish, among others, and I enjoy the challenge of picking up new phrases from every new friend I make along my journey.

Aside from these interests, I’m passionate about photography, always keen to capture those precious, unrepeatable moments. I enjoy the company of interesting people, cherish those enlightening conversations, and yes, I am a cat lover!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I hope that our paths cross in this incredible journey of life. See you soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because it aligns perfectly with my love for travel and my curiosity for new discoveries. This platform allows me to connect with people from various walks of life, enriching my journey with diverse perspectives. The interesting dialogues I engage in with locals give me a genuine insight into their cultures and ways of life, beyond what any guidebook can provide. I believe that the real essence of any place lies in its people, and Couchsurfing helps me tap into that essence. So, for me, Couchsurfing is not just a travel app, but a gateway to global friendships and cultural exchanges.

Interests

I am a person with diverse interests. My passion lies not just in the sphere of politics and international relations, but also extends to areas such as history and culture. Traveling is something that I truly enjoy, as it opens doors to these various domains in the most immersive way.

I also consider myself a cinephile, who appreciates the intricate art form that cinema represents, painting pictures of societies and cultures in ways that few other mediums can.

In line with my ambition of becoming a diplomat, I have a natural curiosity about everything around me. But what truly captivates me is the opportunity to interact with individuals from different walks of life. I find great joy in learning from these conversations, in understanding their perspectives and experiences. What makes these exchanges special is their spontaneity, the organic unfolding of shared stories and insights that make our human journey so fascinating.

Music, Movies, and Books

My preferences in music, films, and books are diverse and mood-dependent. My musical taste can swing from rock to rap, even meandering into the realms of jazz on certain days. Recently, I've been enjoying the classic melodies of Elvis Presley, reminding me of an unforgettable childhood experience attending an Elton John concert. Though I harbor a deep appreciation for classical music, I remain open to a variety of genres.

When it comes to movies, I'm captivated by compelling dramas that echo the realities of life. An example of a film that deeply resonated with me is "The Shawshank Redemption," a gripping narrative that left an indelible imprint on my mind.

Regarding books, my selection tends to be varied, much like my other preferences. I find myself drawn to psychology-focused narratives, books dealing with international politics, and personal memoirs. These genres give me a broader understanding of human behavior, global affairs, and the diverse experiences people undergo in their lifetimes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most rewarding experiences I've had has been my involvement in volunteer work to assist refugees and their pets affected by war. Recognizing the bond between people and their pets, and understanding that these animals often provide a crucial source of comfort and companionship in such challenging times, I've dedicated time and effort to ensure their well-being. From providing food and shelter, to helping reunite lost pets with their families, this volunteer work has been a humbling and incredibly fulfilling journey. This experience has reaffirmed my belief in the power of empathy and the profound impact of small acts of kindness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am currently concluding my Master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy. Language learning is a passion of mine, and I've managed to acquire proficiency in 6 or 7 languages - I've honestly lost count! Ha-ha. In addition to English, I am also on a mission to master Spanish, Italian, and French.

My love for culture doesn't stop at languages. I enjoy singing, and during my childhood, I also played the violin. I have a deep appreciation for music and enjoy immersing myself in it whenever I have free time. You'll often find me with headphones on, listening to various types of music. These skills and hobbies, I believe, contribute to making me a well-rounded individual.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First and foremost, I bring with me a positive attitude and a genuine interest in engaging in lively discussions. We can delve into a wide array of topics, from current events to other areas of shared interest.

Additionally, I can share stories about Ukraine, my homeland, as well as anecdotes from the countries I've visited. My travel experiences are packed with humorous incidents and intriguing tales that can make for enjoyable conversation.

Most importantly, I believe in mutual respect and understanding, and I look forward to learning as much as I share, making our interaction a rich and enriching exchange.
