About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a teacher from the United States. I love to see new places and meet new people, and I enjoy making people laugh.
PHILOSOPHY
Read everything you can get your hands on (and then some).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed and hosted a couple times and had really positive experiences.
However, if you're in Alabama, I am an excellent tour guide/trip advisor (I've lived there most of my life)!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A $5 bus trip to Chicago and New York with my close friend
Interests
I love listening to and playing music. I love talking about biology and solving puzzles, trivia, and swimming. In Alabama there's a lot of surface water, so I've always been around lakes, rivers, creeks my whole life, and love being outside. I've recently been learning how to use a manual film camera from the 80s that I fished out of my mom's closet. I also like making things (books, scarves, pots, etc) with my hands. I find it very relaxing, especially as a teacher whose primary disciplines are English reading, writing, and math.
I also have a passion for good food and for sweet animals. And I'm always willing to learn new things and talk to new people, especially if we can cook together! My family is from the southern U.S., so preparing and eating huge group meals is a part of how I grew up.

Music, Movies, and Books
Too much music to talk about-- I like it all, really!
I like Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch and I really like cartoons. It may be silly, but I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe.
I read science books and political theory books for school, but I really like contemporary fiction and poetry too! Been enjoying Kurt Vonnegut and Milan Kundera recently.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hitchhiked into New York City for a huge climate action with a beekeeper/ teacher I met at a bus stop. The bus was too full for people to board. She was very nice.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think being open and honest with people is important, and it's a big part of how I communicate.
I can also tell you some interesting things about how number theory relates to biology if you want! The intersections between the two subjects are some of my favorite things to talk about. Plants and insects operate on mathematical principles!
I also know a few ukulele chords and can teach some simple songs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring / make food and am especially tidy! If I'm staying with someone, I try to make sure to leave the space I use cleaner than it was when I arrived, or prepare food at least once if it's already spotless. I am very patient and calm in stressful situations. Also I'm pretty good at public transport for someone who isn't from a place that uses it, so you (probably) won't get any panicked calls because I ended up in the next town over accidentally.
