I'm a med student, so money is tight (literally living on loans) and I also love the idea of immersing oneself while traveling rather than being stuck with all the visitors! This philosophy extends to even one night stays as I'm on the road to another destination. I've used airbnb for this in the past as well and love the experience!

Showing up with barely basic Spanish and living in Ecuador for a year. Definitely one of the most intense experiences of my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Ahora es mi segundo hogar (now it's my second home!)
