About Me
I joined Couchsurfing about 7 years ago after graduating from my linguistics and psychology degree as a way to travel cheaply but mindfully. It was a great experience and I was able to meet lots of interesting people and also learn a lot about myself- funny how travel makes you do that. Now after the pandemic and life craziness I'm looking forward to getting back into it! When I'm not away travelling I work as a social worker in Calgary and spend time with my partner and my cat Yuzu and other hobbies, eg. hiking, going to concerts/raves, reading, yoga, etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I figure couchsurfing will be a great way to travel affordably while also meeting locals, making new friends, and generally becoming a more open-minded and culturally-sensitive person :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like most genres, especially indie/alternative rock or pop, EDM, house/techno, jazz, hiphop, classical, folk....
Movies: all-time faves are Juno, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit trilogies, etc.
Books: anything that's not a textbook. Jokes aside, "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran has always been my favourite.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-hiked Mount Yamnuska (most emotionally challenging hike I've ever done)
-volunteered with special needs kids in the US
-started travelling by myself (an ongoing adventure!)
-did a hike in Costa Rica where I visited 7 waterfalls and waded through waist deep water and climbed up a rope next to the waterfall to get to the last two - and did I mention it was raining the whole time?
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some German, French or Spanish, and I would also love to learn a bit about your own language and culture and do as the locals do!
And if you allow me the use of your kitchen I would be happy to cook or bake something for you! Food is a universal language after all.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, humour, and an open-minded attitude.
