About Me

My current goal is to make a living from my art for a full year!
-------------------------------------------------

Hi there, my name's Maia. I'm a professional artist, plane enthusiast and all around goofball. Food is my third major passion, being that food is edible art, who could resist?
I've grown up traveling. Being in one place for two long gets me a little loco. The travel bug runs deep in my family. Before I was born my parents would drive from the US to Costa Rica, and once I was old enough I joined the caravan.

I'm an overly optimistic, easily excitable, enjoy-er of life.

I was homeschooled and I try not to be prisoner of my culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently on looking for new friends as I travel.

Interests

Art obviously. Aviation, natural disasters, cooking and traveling.
I've recently discovered politics isn't as boring as I thought, and learned the valuable skill of crocheting my own potholders, scarfs and cat toys.

For cooking my skills lie in Asian food and Mexican. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide range of music, but I have a special place in my heart for Maroon 5.
Almost anything from the 80's gets me moving and motown is always good.

I like a lot of movies, but Miyazaki movies are always a joy to watch. Chick flicks sometimes tickle my fancy, but often times I like animated, either 2D or 3D since it's a way of seeing artists styles moving.

Books, well. I'm not as well read as I would like to be, but I'm working on it. His Dark Materials is my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was caught in a earthquake 30 feet up in a tree. With a Couchsurfer!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you the parts of a plane, tell you what they are for and how many times a plane has crashed because of said part. :)
Can teach you how to make bread, and sausage.
