About Me

I am currently a student at RPI majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived there for a year with my Mom, Dad, and brother, Malik before moving to Jeffery's Bay, South Africa. After experiencing seven years of my childhood in South Africa, my family decided to pack up and move to Puerto Rico for one year due to intense crime, poverty, and violence in South Africa. Following my year in Puerto Rico, we relocated back to Kamuela, Hawaii, a small town on the Big Island. I feel as if different cultures and environments have helped me learn to adapt to scenarios better. I chose to move to upstate, New York to receive a phenomenal education. I also moved here to experience seasons. Seasons are amazing. As you can imagine, living in Hawaii, South Africa, and Puerto Rico, I haven't seen many blizzards. I'm studying aeronautical science because I'm interested in aeronautics and the way aircrafts take flight/remain in the sky.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking for a place to stay throughout the summer of 2018 in Santa Barbara, California because I have been accepted to an internship with a new aerospace development and alternative energy company called H2 Clipper.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music genre is rap. A few of my favorite artists are Kidaf, Kendrick Lamar, Jidenna, Chance the Rapper, Rap City, etc. Some of my favorite movies are "Avatar, The Last Airbender", "Avatar", "Superbad", etc. My favorite books are "The Pillage" by Obert Skye, "The Time Keeper" by Mitch Albom, "Area 51" by Annie Jacobsen, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing I feel particularly proud of is when I organized and hosted a biathlon for a student at my local high school in Hawaii. To me personally, helping someone out felt immensely rewarding because I know how the stress of college can feel, especially the financial stress. The biathlon consisted of two events, a 500m swim and a two-mile run. By the end of the day, I felt amazed by everything I could accomplish and I felt content knowing that I could alleviate some of the fears a fellow peer might have had about their future financial endeavors.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned a lot from living in various cultures and regions of the world and I feel as if I have a lot of knowledge to share with future hosts and friends. I am a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha chapter at RPI and often cook dinner for my fraternity brothers. As much as I'm willing to share my knowledge and perception, I am always willing to acquire a new understanding of things and let new experiences shift my point of view.
