About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek and provide memorable experiences learning about other cultures and telling foreigners about my own. Having recently retired I will continue travels and gladly orient visitors in my home city.

ABOUT ME

Internationally minded, world traveler, minor linguist and historian who loves to explore old cities, and delve into new and ancient cultures. Also love conversing about different civilizations, writing about travels, and opening people's eyes. I can tell stories of my travels in the Holy Land, in ancient cities and jungle ruins, about some slick Asian cities and about the best national parks we have in the USA. Tourism, civilizations and conquests, cities new and ancient, development and progress, heritage and preservation, are all topics that fascinate me.

PHILOSOPHY

Very tolerant of others and of their views. Am behind in formulating my own philosophy, so I welcome the views of others especially those challenging the world I come from.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Will provide best guidance I can to any visitors to my city Washington DC. I'll also seek hosts in foreign countries to orient me about the local culture, past history, economics and politics.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met delightful, and very intelligent hosts in Bolivia and Egypt so far who were very informative and hospitable to me building my faith in the value of the couch-surfing approach to travel. It is not so much the comfort of the homes that I seek, but rather the warm and well-informed welcome, the 'inside story' told by a good host. I am seeking enlightenment, and am happy to enlighten if I can.

Interests

History of the New World, colonization and empires, museums, travel, music, light sports, in the US public television public affairs, showing the best of my very beautiful home city. Am happy to explain to non-Americans all about studies, work and other opportunities to get to know the USA and its people. I also love speaking French, Spanish and Portuguese. My career website is www.KnightConsultLLC.com.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Wayna Picchu and from atop for nearly an hour pondered the ruins of Machu Picchu and the river valley far below.
