Hello, hallo and g'day! I'm Mara, 21, orginially created in Germany but been hopping around Southeast Asia for a year, volunteering, marveling and pondering. After I spent a year in Melbourne, Australia, soaking up the Australian sun. The return home was not the easiest, nothing and everything has changed. But the urge to travel and connect is stronger than ever. That's why I'm here. I learned how to appreciate countries not from the tourist side of life, staying in hotels. I always need closer interaction with the country and its people.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Frankly speaking - to completely dive in into a new culture and to experience a country from other perspectives than a typical tourist. Further, I'd like to break out of that luxurious golden cage that I experience while staying in hotels.
Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, to list everything could take ages... My favourite books are definitely: > John Irving-The Cider House Rules > Irvin Yalom-And Nietzsche Wept > Oscar Wilde-The Picture of Dorian Gray > Malcolm Gladwell-The Tipping Point Movies: > Melancholia by Lars von Trier > Into the Wild > Documentaries (mostly about environmental protection/destruction and animal rights) Music: I like basically everything from indie, rock, hip-hop, rap, pop to classical music.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
To sail on your own after a one-week sailing course in the Baltic Sea! Traveling through Asia on your my own and living in Melbourne. That city changed me irreversibly, beautifully.
