About Me

I'm originally from New York, but moved to Jax. FL when I was 14. Now living in Virginia, but travel back to Florida yearly. I'm retired and ready to travel most of the time, but during 2024 will be heading back to Sicily where I have a Piccolo Casa that I am renovating. I use WorkAwayers there so if Couchsurfing people would like to join us via WorkAway sometime that could be cool.

I will focus on my local region during my stays at home in Virginia. I love exploring Virginia, D.C. and West Virginia on day trips. I spend a lot of time helping others and I am a Progressive and a Resistor. I love hiking and long distance walking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and explore places I've missed during my lifetime. That and possibly return to a few I loved so much. People, people, people and places are my passion. Being retired means a smaller budget so couch surfing seems the perfect way to travel.

Interests

Hiking, motorcycle riding (on the back), art galleries, architecture, history and film.
Just about anything really including food and cooking. No longer into drinking, but being with drinkers is not a problem for me so even wineries are interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz, Techno, Rock, Classical...only a tiny bit of country.
Bandits is one of my favorite movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bought an abandoned house in Sicily which is my current project.

Another cool thing is I opened an art co_op not knowing how uncooperative some artists can be. That was amazing...when they folded I reopened and had a wonderful time for 5 years.

Other than that I like long distance walking, but farthest so far is a 50K

Teach, Learn, Share

Because I had the art gallery I have access to many artists and their galleries. We can visit, tour and explore many art and artisan related studios.

Countries I’ve Visited

Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
