IMPORTANT: I'm currently not having a flat in Germany, so I'm not able to host. As soon as I move to my new city I'll be available to host again. ;)
_______________________

Hi,
I'm Maria, german, 24-years, born and raised in Bavaria. Recently, Silas, my boyfriend, and I moved in together in Osnabrück, living in a shared flat with three other roommates. Prior to this, I spent three fullfilling years studying midwifery in Göttingen, discovering that I've chosen one of the most incredible professions I could ever learn ;).

The first big journey of my life started 2018. I was supposed to be 6 months on the road. It turned out that I came back to Germany after 14 months and have travelled to 20 countries. But that's a longer story ;) And it's Silas, who I met on the way and came back with together. I'm grateful to know him as my boyfriend for more than five years now.

Since then we used every opportunity to discover new places of this beautiful planet. The list of new countries keeps extending!
Once you got it into your blood, you will never loose it.

In February '24 we both submitted our Bachelorsthesis. After that Silas will start his master studies in Lisbon and I will pursue my Medicine Studies in Mainz.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

From 2018 I've been backpacking for 14-months and visited 20 countries... Well, "visited" doesn't sound like the right thing... I'd better say "experienced", because I never just visited just all those tourist stuff... There happened so much on my way (later on OUR way, when I met my boyfriend Silas).
I saw different families living together, tried so many different dishes, smelled different air, learned a lot about different histories and costumes, and met so many different people on my way.
And everybody kind of opened a door to an other world where he's living and how he's thinking.

I'd definetively call it an experience of my lifetime.
And I'm totally grateful for it.

And the most part was because of this amazing idea of Couchsurfing. I don't know what would have happened if we wouldn't have met so many lovely people all around the world. I just need to say thank you to this community!
And I want to give it back, as much as I can.

Life is like a universe. Everyone is individual and still we are all connected.

Stop prejudging at first sight, instead try to get to know this person. Wasn't every friend once a stranger? ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading at all!!
I'm this kind of traveller who loves it to discover these famous book exchange boxes - those you can find in hostels or some city centers...:)) The idea, that you can give your finished book away and find a new one for travelling, is pretty cool :) currently mostly reading Marc Levy and Nicolas Sparks.
In Centralamerica I'm reading "Call the midwife" (found in an exchange box in a bouldering hall); it's a historical story telling book about the development of obstretics care in the 50ies....Okay, now I'm getting boring :D

But the best books are still the ones I've written by myself ;)

Music: Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, Eddie Vedder, John Denver, Queen, John Lennon and much more!!

Movies: Breaking Boundaries (highly recommend!), The Age of Adaline, Into the wild, Mona Lisa Smile,... The list keeps going! Generally I'm much into old movies or documentaries.
Tell me your suggestions ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met the love of my life in New Zealand, on the other side of the world. Since then I'm happy to have explored the world with him for the last five years and we will keep on doing so. 🇳🇿 ❤️

- Bungy Jumping 134 Meter
- Hitchhiking in Centralamerica
- travelling back from Bali to Germany just overland
- taking the transsiberian railway
- teaching kids in Mongolia as a volunteer
-...
There's too much to count...

Oh sorry, I was supposed to say just one thing! ;D

However, the best of all was the moment, when I learned that you should give every day the chance to be the best day of your life. And to be thankful for every small little thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is an awesome adventure.
___

After finishing highschool I took all my savings and packed my backpack for flying to the other side of the world. But I didn't expect any of all this stuff that happend to me along the way.
When I left Germany I had an exact plan where to travel to and when... But then I learned that plans can change...
And my plans changed a lot!! And I changed myself as well... (2019)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd like to share experiences, but I'm very interested my host's stories, too. People say, I'm a good listener ;)

And I'd always offer to cook something for my hosts or share groceries. I can cook many vegan dishes. My friends, family and my boyfriend use to say that I'm a great chef. I think the ingredient love makes the difference ;)
