About Me

Hello!
My name is Sofia, a 21 years old Portuguese girl who currently lives in Madrid and studies Law as an Erasmus Student.
I’m an adventurous and very friendly person, who loves to visit the most iconic tourist attractions and to get lost in the alleys of a new city, to meet locals and to connect mentally and spiritually with other travellers, to emerge myself in the culture of the country and expand my horizons.
I love reading philosophical books, specially the ones about human nature (currently finishing The Portrait of Dorian Gray), listening to all sorts of music and watching documentaries in general, but specially the ones about the universe. I’m also a movies’ enthusiastic!
I live for sunsets, walks on the beach, profound and meaningful conversations, laughs, cats and, of course, travelling!
Help me create unforgettable memories and grow as an individual by hosting me!
(And thank you for reading!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So far, I haven't tried couchsurfing.
I usually stay in Hostels: the ones that have a cosy and confortable environment usually help to bring people together and always improve my experiences abroad by presenting me with unexpected travel companions who became various times good friends that I still keep in touch with and look foward to visit again!
I have met a few people who recommended Couchsurfing for the exact same reasons so I want to give it a try!

Music, Movies, and Books

A few I listen to more frequently:
Lana del Rey
Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Kasabian
Tame Impala
Alt-J
Rufus du Sol
Sons of Maria
Nora en Pure
Khalid
Drake
(I like almost everything, to be honest!...)

Call me by your name, Gone Girl, Nocturnal Animals, all Nolan's movies...

The great Gatsby - S. Fitzgerald
Candid or optimism - Voltaire
The death of Ivan Ilistch - Tolstoi
Methamorphoses - Franz Kafka
Blindness - José Saramago
Poems of Fernando Pessoa

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I did was take the decision to solo travel for the 1st time about a year ago - that brought out an adventurous and curious side I wasn't sure I had and this led to my most cherished memories:

1) Watched the sunrise in Capadoccia, on a hot air baloon, surrounded by other 200 ballons
2) Visited (almost) all the beautiful Mosques in Istambul
3) Spent my 21st bday with a stranger I had just met on Zagreb who is now one of my favorite people on this planet
4) Biked in the streets of Copenhagen at late hours at night
5) On a Sunday, walked Dubrovnik's Old Town at late afternoon with the church chants as a background sound
6) Hitchhiked in Azores (bus schedules suck in the island of S. Miguel and wouldn't take me to those hidden jams I wanted to check out)
7) Worked in Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey, for three weeks
8) Took a moped in Kas, south of Turkey, with the hostel owner (who became a good friend) to explore that beautiful little town
9) Decided to do Erasmus in Madrid for a full year
