About Me

I am an MA International Development Studies student at the University of Amsterdam, but I am originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I gave couch surfing a chance because of a recommendation of a friend and it was the best advice ever given me (yes, I am dramatic and exaggerated). I think it is very interesting to get to know people from the places I visit; I really like being the typical tourist; walking around taking pictures of the touristic place. But I also love going to the places only the citizens know; the cafes, the bars and the parks, to get a different eye on the places I travel to.

Interests

I love music, reading books, travelling and cinema.
I am very open to try new things, mainly trying new food! I love hiking and I am very open to try doing new sports.
I am also a nerd. I enjoy studying and learning as much as I can. I am very interested in climate change and how we can pressure on our leaders to take action. The environment is a priority in my political discourses and I can name stuff and agreements and reasons why we should take care of it <3
I recently became a veggie - but I promise I will never be the one that judges you for eating meat. My motto is to do whatever you want, as long as you are respectful. Just do it with love and be grateful and aware of the greatest things around you. Spread love.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like classic rock (starting with Rolling Stones from the 50s until Foo Fighter nowadays). But my favourite band is Death Cab for Cutie; and no, it's not an emo band.
My favourite author is Jack Kerouac and I am pretty much interested in the Beat Generation; read a lot of Ginsberg, Burroughs, McClure. But currently, I am reading a lot of Bukowski and when I am finished, want to get to the philosophical Nietzsche (really want to confront my religious beliefs).
My favourite movie is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". And I love mindfuck movies; The Truman Show, Donnie Darko, Inception are on the list. And I am also a Marvel fan (I am sorry DC), and my favourite Marvel movie is Iron Man (1, 3, 2 in order).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would say watching FRIENDS is one amazing thing [because I watch it almost everyday since I was 14yo], but I would better say I moved to the UK when I just turned 18 years old to pursue my academic career. Left my family, dog and friends behind, but I still call my parents everyday, see my dog on Skype a lot and keep in touch with my friends; so I am not afraid of being by myself if I am in the right places and surrounded by the right people :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can cook Brazilian food but it is really hard to find all the ingredients in the world, but I am more than welcome to improvise! I like talking about Brazil and change the misconception and stereotypes that we all have (it is normal to have a stereotype, I understand, but it's good to show the other sides)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing my culture, so I am ok with teaching Samba (well, try to) and teaching some cool Portuguese words (in Brazil we speak portuguese, please haha). I also have loads of cool travelling stories, including alcohol or not.
Well, usually, I like talking a lot, so if you give me a chance to have a talk, we will for a couple of hours.
