I am a middle aged woman who likes adventures, traveling, meeting people, and learning new things. I live near Woodstock with my family (Woodstock is about 1 1/2 hr. from both Toronto and Niagara Falls). My husband Peter and I have five children. The oldest two children do not live at home anymore. My oldest son introduced me to Couchsurfing when he spent a semester in Spain a few years ago. He was traveling around Europe as a student. He had some great experiences. Since my children are pretty much grown now, I have more time on my hands and I think it's time for some new adventures. My husband and I are also free to travel together more.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I'm Couchsurfing because I think it's a really cool idea. My husband and I are both Danish but immigrated to Canada 18 years ago. We love hosting family and friends who come to visit us here from Europe and would like to extend that welcome to others. I think Couchsurfing is exciting because you never know who you might meet and what opportunities you might create as you meet new people.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like the Arts. I love all kinds of musical styles but mostly listen to Contemporary Christian Music. I don't watch a lot of movies, I don't have the time and I'd rather spend time on other things. I really like to read but rarely read fiction. I enjoy children's books (Robert Munch and Dr. Seuss) and I like reading poetry probably because it is "music to my ears".
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Recently (in my 40s) I took a B.A. of Music and a B.A. of Education and I hope to be teaching music to children very soon. Secondly, when I was 14 years old, I traveled across the Atlantic from Denmark to Michigan, USA by myself and stayed with a host family and at a music camp called Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Grand Rapids for three weeks.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Brantford (home of the man who invented the phone - Graham Bell) are all within max. 1 1/2 hr. of our home. We live in the country though and have Amish and Mennonites in our neighbourhood. In the spring you can experience how the famous Canadian Maple syrup is made(:
My Interests
I enjoy building relationships. I love children and I love music! My favourite thing to do is to spend time with family. Recently, I went back to school to finish my education after being "a work at home mom" for 13 years. I love to sing and I enjoy playing the violin and the piano for fun - I'm absolutely no pro. At our church I'm involved with children and music. I'm not a very sophisticated person which is probably why I like children so much. Learning about counselling and Psychology is another interest of mine. My second choice of career would be in Social Work. Again, building relationships is what I live for.
