My partner and I love to travel. She has been to over 65 countries (not 100% sure of the exact count) and has a goal to visit 100. In 2012, she circled the planet and visited 13 countries. During the trip, she couch surfed multiple times and had wonderful experiences. We have hosted several couch surfing individuals and couples at our house and have enjoyed meeting fellow travelers and sharing stories. My father introduced me to golf at a young age and I've enjoyed "the game of a lifetime" ever since. I turned that passion into a career, well until recently. More on that in a minute. I have two adult children who live in San Diego and Chattanooga.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As mentioned above, along with my partner Arlene Butler, we have hosted couch surfers at our house and have met some fun and fascinating people. In mid-September (2018), I am taking a 3-4 month break from work. For approximately 6 weeks during that time period, I am taking a cross country motorcycle trip from our house in Northwest Virginia to San Diego and back. Now, I have been an occasional weekend rider for the past 3 years with the longest trip being about 1 hour from home. I'm greatly looking forward to this journey and would like to couch surf along the way to meet fellow adventurers and learn about the places where they live.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a quiet and respectful person who does not drink or do drugs. To some, that would sound boring. I did those things many years ago and, for me, I just feel better physically and spiritually without them. I normally rise early and will likely hit the road shortly after sunrise.
