Overview
About Me
Well, I'm Martin and I'm a student from the Czech Republic.
Lots of things (advantages & disadvantages) connected with student's life are now coming to your mind.
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire says I'm wobbling between emotional stabil introvert and neurotic extravert so I decided to be an ambivert. I'm exactly that type of person who come from the school and want to be alone with his films, books and music for the rest of day. But when I get an invitation to a good party or huge gathering with my friends, I can enjoy it as well as I like to be alone. Interesting, isn't it?
My friends say I'm emphatic, optimistic, creative, polite... but also quite delayed, naive and a bit lazy human being.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I find Couchsurfing to be one of the best worldwide projects and opportunities to travel I've ever heard about. We live in the 21th century and most people are thirsty of traveling, collecting experiences and making new friends around the world. So do I.
I also have some positive experiences by providing my couch to Americans from NYC who visited my school town.
Interests
Eat, sleep, brew tea and repeat. I'm very addicted to different kinds of tea. I can name them, recognise them by flavour or smell and tell you something about tea culture and history (mainly about indian and chinese). My favourite teas: Gyokuro, Tie Guan Yin, Keemun Mao Feng, Oriental Beauty, Darjeeling's teas and all these with a strong muscatel or rose aroma.
I love chemistry applied in biology and I'd like to study science. You can usually find me happily sinking in my books while preparing to examination or just relaxing.
I'm also interested in all kinds of creative work. I'm not a professional but I have some experiences with computer graphics as it makes me happy.

Music, Movies, and Books
My relationship to music styles is very complicated. I like Indie folk/pop, electro-swing and classical music but sometimes also listen to House, R&B, Rap or Pop rock. Favourite bands: Of Monsters and Men, X Ambassadors, Foals, Parov Stelar, Jain, Hozier, Dvořák, Arctic Monkeys, Alligatoah.
I'm a Harry Potter child and will never stop loving this saga. I like the atmosphere of old japanese films. My favourite director is Yasujirō Ozu.
Books: Biology - topics from psychology, virology & genetics; but when it comes to belles-lettre my favourite titles are The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Hruškadóttir from Jana Šrámkováor Kundera's Immortality and then there is the japanese haiku.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last week I was trying to make a genuine Masala Chai. There was written in the Indian recipe that I should add 2 tsp of already prepared masala mix. So I added 2 tsp of this spices mixture and experienced the hottest night ever! To my surprise I drank about half a litter of this liquid. Best challenge ever.
Teach, Learn, Share
Everybody has it's own story and experiences. I want to share you my story and learn something from yours.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can answer all your curious questions about the Czech Republic! :)
There is a winter stadium in Nové Město na Moravě which is about 20 km from my house. It is very popular for loads of cross-country skiing or biathlon competitions like World Championship or World Cups. So we can come there to support your beloved skier or just go skiing at public skiing hours.
Although I live in a village there are some interesting pubs and cafés in towns nearby.
There is gorgeous nature around Svratouch. We can go for a trip or just a walk around.
I'm also able to visit with you any bigger town or city in the Czech Republic.
