About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Grow.

ABOUT ME

Who am I? I guess I'll share in relation to things that might impact a visitor or host... Raised in Los Angeles, went to a Jesuit liberal arts college in Worcester, Massachusetts, I have just spent the last two years of my life working at the youth facility of Belize's Central Prison. I am white, identify as male, come from a middle to upper class socioeconomic background - still figuring out what all of those mean for my life. I love creativity and spontaneity and desire as much of them in my life as possible. I talk a lot but listen pretty well too. I am very easygoing and have almost no needs that would make me a difficult houseguest. I am super-attentive to the needs of others and pretty perceptive as well. I guess that is enough; feel free to ask questions.

PHILOSOPHY

Haven't decided on one yet. So it may be best to say it as Walt Whitman did: "Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself,(I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In life? In Couchsurfing? ... As best as I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Previously had an account (lost the information) and traveled in North East USA. Also hosted in Belize City.

Interests

I always find these sorts of things potential traps for a number of different things, but I guess it is just one of the few ways to convince a stranger to permit me into his or her life... I am active and seek creative adventures. I am reflective and desire good conversation. I am hungry and crave delicious chow. I love music and spontaneity, reading and writing, arts and crafts. I love athletics and enjoy the positive contributions of technology. I play the guitar, I pray to God and I like to socialize in any number of different locations over any number of different things. I am open to pretty much everything because I believe I learn the most from taking risks and partaking in the many things others can share with me. I love to learn. I take notes frequently because I find so much wisdom and insights pop up every day. I love movies. I like to go to bed late and wake up early. I like being outdoors. The list goes on...

Music, Movies, and Books

So many books: White Like Me. Washington Rules. War Is a Force that Gives us Meaning. The Prophet. Wellsprings. Guyland. Old Turtle and the Broken Truth. The Bible. A People's History of the United States. Autobiography of Malcolm X. All About Love. To Have or To Be. The list goes on.

So many movies. Princess Bride. What About Bob? Meet Joe Black. 500 Days of Summer. So many more.

I stopped myself because I found there were too many to list and I was too conscious of how other people might interpret the ones I put. I don't want to write based on that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a bridge implode. I saw Car-Henge (a replica of Stone Henge). I've seen the Grand Canyon (and other awesome National Parks). I have sky-dived (if that is the right tense). I've visited 47 of the 50 US states... Life is kind of full of things that are pretty incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure I have much to teach - most of me is stolen from other places. I desire to learn a lot. I hope I can give something back in return.

Countries I’ve Visited

El Salvador, Nicaragua

Countries I’ve Lived In
