About Me

ABOUT ME

People generally consider me to be laid back, occasionally lazy the sort of don't do today what you can do tomorrow kind of guy!! Which I guess is true to a certain extent, although when I do start something I like to get it done and done properly.

I have a very broad sense of humour and try not to take life seriously for the simple fact that when I do there is a lot that goes on in the world that bothers me!

I'm a very open minded person and never dismiss someone because their ideas and beliefs are different to mine.

PHILOSOPHY

I see people as individual people. I don't like stereotyping and people who judge and/or discriminate on nationality, appearence, beliefs etc.

I try to maintain a positive, optamistic outlook on day to day life and try not to let anything worry me too much as (my mother used to tell me as a child) 'half the things you worry about never happen'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Firstly we are not in Doncaster or Iceland, the two places this site keeps telling me I log in from! We are in Stowmarket, England!!

The expert Hungarian I listed in my profile is spoken by my Hungarian wife, if you don't speak either of those then our basic sign language is not bad :o)!!!

At the moment we can offer you a couch! Either that or a reclining armchair which is very comfortable and easy to fall asleep in! Or we also have one of those couches that pulls out into a bed, so take your pick!

We are located in a quiet part of town so you will get a good nights sleep. We are a bit limited for cold storage at the moment so we cannot offer much in the way of food, but we have some good, reasonably priced home delivery takeaways. Or if you prefer the town centre is within easy walking distance where you will find restaurants and pubs.

Also within walking distance is a mainline rail station with frequent direct trains to London and Cambridge.

We have WiFi so you will be able to keep upto date with e-mails, Facebook and this site!

We also have Sky, though most evenings during the winter months I'm watching the NHL so if you love hockey then ours is the place to stay!!

Pets wise, apart from a few tropical fish we have Jenny who is a Saluki Greyhound cross and although will bark like mad at first quickly becomes a very friendly sociable dog.

Interests

Travelling, naturally!!! I love seeing new places and nothing gives me a greater buzz than seeing the departure board at an airport knowing that I am off to one of the places on it!

I am also a keen Ice Hockey fan and also enjoy skating myself, although since they closed my "localish" (1 hour drive away) rink I've not had much chance to do that.

Other interests include Hedgehogs! As members of the BHPS each winter we will rescue underweight Hedgehogs which would otherwise die and 'overwinter' them before releasing them in the spring.
