Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Alaska, love my home, and think of it every time I see a mountain. Learning German, in my second semester at the Technical University in Harburg, thrilled to be here, I guess :)
Interests
I'll go with everything. Hiking, biking, math, art, music, laughing, cooking, eating, drinking, science, language, traveling.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music ranges wildly, find myself always able to listen to Ratatat, the XX, most downbeat electronica. I listen to everything, though, and enjoy it more and more every time :)
Movies are also very eclectic. Really liked 'the Fall'
Also, Captain Fantastic describes my childhood, and the Martian describes a future I want to see.
Books: Sanderson, Pratchett, Tolkien, Martin, Rothfuss, Funke, Rowling, Jacques, Lewis, Asimov, Clarke, Herbert, Card, Adams, and plenty of nonfiction, too. People just don't know the last names of nonfiction authors like they do fiction. Or maybe they do! Pinker, Kahneman, Gladwell, Arendt, Shulgin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Took a couple month long bicycle trip down the western side of South America with a close friend. No Couchsurfing then, sadly, but we did end up spending quite a few nights on couches.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could probably survive in the woods if left there, tundra and mountains works too. Desert and I'm probably out of luck. I can cook and bake reasonably well, and enjoy it much more than I should. I'm decent at math, and have a basic understanding of most scientific topics. I know a little about building things, and it goes without saying I'd love to share all of these 'skills' with everyone I meet.
