Overview
About Me
Hello, I'm Matthias from northern Germany. I'm 27, finished university end of last year, got a nice title on the paper and can call myself engineer now. But I am still looking for the right first place to go, preferably far away from home. That makes me travel in Germany and Europe right now.
When travelling and also when being at home I like to do interesting things, like to meet interesting people and just keep my mind open.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I got infected by the idea of meeting new people, when and after I was touring the Balkan region. Every hostel was another great place to get in contact with people from all over the world.
Staying in hotels just sounds boring to me.
I can tell stories but I'm also really good in listening to fascinating stories.
Interests
Before finishing school I was doing a lot of track and field. I like working out in groups. It's amazing how a group of athletes can motivate yourself to work harder even on a bad day.
Now after leaving my university town I'm still working out, but without a club. German winter is not really motivating when running alone.
And so i spend more time meeting old friends since I'm back to my home town.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is written by a German author: Walter Moers. But in this moment I don't remember the title.
I like movies with a difficult plot. I like them the most when I hardly understand what's going on until you can find your own conclusion at the end. Examples are Donnie Darko, Shutter Island or recently Birdman.
For the music I'm indecisive. But most of the time I like listening to Punk/Indie/Hard Rock
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the southern GR20 in Corsica. Having hard snowfall and temperature drop on the third day. Finding together in a group of ten totally unknown people. Continuing together with helping each other.
Priceless!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Definitely not my enormous cooking skills. But I'm good in chopping vegetables.
