ABOUT ME

So after hosting a number of people in my home I'm hooked on turning strangers into new friends with couch surfing. Looking forward to seeing some new cities and countries, but most of all meeting new people.

I live a very full life, and will almost always have something planned for a weekend. While I have not lived in York my entire life, I've explored more of the area than friends who were born here. If I don't know where to find what you are looking for, I probably know someone who does.

I've always been an open and honest guy- and I believe that couch surfing attracts people with similar values. So far the community has not let me down.

I enjoy nature and spending time outdoors whenever possible, it keeps me focused and grounded. I crave adventure and hope to find people who can direct me to new sights and the hidden local treasures.

My two boys have recently moved out - leaving me with an actual spare bedroom. In the past my surfers used the sofa or a tent in my backyard. Now I have a full room to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

The only reason to be alive is to enjoy it.

I've studied philosophies and religions from many different cultures. At the end of each day I strive to have done no harm.... to have left people and places better than I found them...and to have smiled and laughed as much as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm looking to help others exploring or traveling through York, and hopefully find couches for my own trips and vacations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted several bands who had gigs in the area, cyclists and travelers passing through, and have met up with other couch surfers at local events. I've only surfed myself once- on a trip last March to Iceland.

Interests

I've been teaching myself to play guitar and have recently purchased a Martin Backpacker to bring on my travels. I have a degree in theater, studied dance, and am working on my masters in English Education . I've recently come to enjoy local Story Slams as well as Bike Parties. I'm also interested in science, science fiction, religion, art, nature, politics, exercise, philosophy, music...but most of all people.

I really enjoy games mostly the kind that don't need electricity. Card games, board games, miniature games,....just games.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm interested in any kind of music, but have a special fondness for Folk. I enjoy science fiction and fantasy for movies and books- but am open to anything that's well written, well acted, and well produced.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Four times a year I go to a Native American Sweat Lodge Ceremony. It's become a regular part of my life, but is always very interesting to others.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching? Oh My.

I can teach juggling, balloon animals, wild foods (in PA), gardening, acting, guitar, and miniature painting.

I'd like to learn ceramics, mosaic, glass blowing, windsurfing, hang gliding, and welding.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be happy to cook a meal, do some light cleaning, give a juggling lesson, play some songs on my guitar, or just tell some stories. I would also be willing to pick up something for you at the duty free if you'd like.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Iceland, Mexico

Countries I’ve Lived In
