About Me

Please have a look at my profile and personalise your request 🙏🏻 Nobody enjoys a copy and paste message. It feels very random ♥️ I am pretty busy and can only host one person for two nights at the moment. Big plus if you’re into filmmaking. Please mention that 🤗

I work as a social media guy but my true passion is building a filmmaking community. On the side, I'm working on my international photography business: www.instagram.com/MauriceEtoile

In general my mission is: Spread smiles. Meet wonderful people. Become the best wedding & automotive photographer in the world ;)

2016 was quite disrupting. After I've been an IT project manager for three years, I've decided to leave the office (monkey cage) for good and start my own carreer as a photographer. An amazing 4-month-break in South America showed me how important it is to travel and leave your comfort zone. So many awesome people from all over the globe confirmed my decision to break free. This hasn't changed yet – let's see what'll come next.

-----------------------------

This is an old rant, I still kinda like it:

What's all this 'about me' stuff about?
What am I supposed to write down here?
A totally detailed anecdote about a typical day in my life, like 'I get up every morning at 7, feel totally miserable but start getting a face and alive after I take a shower while I get the second shower on my way to the bus which usually reminds me on the fact that I forgot my umblella at home ...'?
Or should be pretending to be super open and amazingly approachable by writing 'Just ask me blink blink smile!'
What about a biography? A journal? Testimonials?
What about the whole 'I love long walks at the beach'? Everybody seems to like long walks on the beach. I actually dont like them that much. When I'm at the beach, I first of all want to go swimming and lie around to get a tan. That's why I went to the beach. I can have a walk and flaneur everywhere, so when I'm at a beach, let's do beachy things and drink beer and have a BBQ and not just walk.

About me ... ? It really drives me crazy, why does it have to be so vague? Which specific characteristics of my multi-faceted character should I put in consideration to mention here and which should I leave out? Let me think.

What about, I think about myself, like somebody asking me:
'This Maurice Etoile guy, what is he about?'

My response would be something like this:
"This guy is a total idiot. He is arrogant prick and doesn't even have a reason or justification for being in love with himself so much in the first place. Well... on the other hand, admittedly he is very witty, so much fun to be around and most probably the most hilarious and eloquent guy I know. Maybe, thats why. I have to confess, that I actually envy him, because he is also very cool, modest, social and yet down to earth. The more I think about him, the more I want to either cuddle the shit out of him or have drinks with him straight away. And that's that."

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a small place. Don't stay in your comfort zone, get your butt up, visit some countries, meet people and broaden your horizon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I try to make it to the gatherings, meet people for drinks, show them around, introduce them to my friends and give my couch to stay. The best idea is meeting up at the weekend.

I hosted at home and in Hong Kong. We became instant-friends. I've surfed in different countries in Europe and South America. It's simply the best way to experience foreign places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mainland China: We went for dinner - in China that is Kampeing (finishing a drink in one go) the whole night - the other day and went to a succeeding massage. That massage was meant to turn into one of 'those massages' - if you know what I mean 😜I couldnt bail out without losing face in front of my colleagues, so I was in the room with the hooker and tried to explain, that we wont have sex but rather watch TV until the 2 hours were over. Of course she didnt speak a single word of English. I had to draw and act it out (👉🏻👌🏻🙅🏻‍♂️‼️), until she understood, although she couldnt believe or get it at all, I guess. However, I ended up watching Tom&Jerry with this Chinese prostitute for two hours. What a strange experience! Of course I told my colleague I banged her big time and three times in a row. He was really impressed and told me to take on two girls next time 🤦🏻‍♂️My plan for the next time is getting so drunk at the dinner and pass out, so they won't even think of taking me to the 'massage' place again 😅

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking: My mum taught me the best dishes, maybe I can pass some on :)
Photography: I've been a photographer since 2000 and would love to help you improve your images. Let's go on a tour and shoot some images together.
Enjoy life: Hang out with me and you'll appreciate the little things in life even more and your friends will love you more, too :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a photographer I can help you to take better photos. Also of course, I can take some photos of you and your friends 😌
I love cooking. We could cook together and learn from each other.
And of course we can exchange travel experiences we made so far ✌🏻
