I'm honoured to live as an uninvited but accepted guest in Klahoose, Homalco, Tla'amin territory. I was born in Vancouver/Squamish Territory. I've been working on self-reliance/community inter-dependence for 15 years. Been a paramedic for >5 yrs. I spend a lot of my time trying to understand the world and trying to be useful -- especially regarding climate change. I've been the president of the board of the Friends of Cortes Island Society for >10yrs (friendsofcortes.org). I'm on a few resilience/emergency preparation committees. I'm the deputy mayor for my community. I've variously worked at journalism, research, advocacy, teaching, fixing things, recycling, etc. I'm easy to get along with -- have reasonable E.Q., high-tolerance of difference. Momma taught me kindness above all else. Married >10yrs, no kids. 1 cat. Live on small off-grid farm.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I was voluntarily 'poor' for a long time, and developed thrift and frugality as core values. I prefer sharing, and making use of what exists than making extra to be 'more comfortable'. I like meeting new people and both giving and receiving generosity. I prefer to save resources ($) for the things that really matter -- like helping others, reducing harm.
Music, Movies, and Books
basically everything except new country. lean toward classical and electronic these days... raised on alt-rock and folk.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I was a legal observer for the Wet'suwet'en. I sat in a sling, hanging in a tree during the 2020 raid in Wetsuwet'en territory. What a show...
