About Me

I am an amateur backpacking enthusiast. I was born and brought up in Kurseong(also known as the Land of White Orchids) and so i have mostly travelled across Sikkim, Darjeeling and other parts of West Bengal. I have recently returned from a 2 week backpacking trip to Spiti Valley and Pin valley (partly) in Himachal Pradesh. I Plan to cover Kashmir within the next year. I dream of visiting all the countries of Europe before 30 as a backpacker. Apart from these, the other places that i have visited are Manali, Kasol, Hampi, Gokarna and Goa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since i am new to this hidden world of traveling community, I want to know more about it. I want to contribute to this community in any possible manner and in this process, also learn from different fellow travelers about there experiences and learnings.

Interests

Apart from backpacking, I also love to dance. I have recently acquired skills in Salsa and also know a little bit Bachata. I am fascinated by the Cuban and Spanish culture. So much so that i have started learning Spanish from Duolingo. Planning to take up a formal certified course for it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music and traveling go hand in hand in my life. I love listening to rock, alternative rock, jazz, blues. Some of favourite bands from the current time are Coldplay, Green Day and Imagine Dragons. Amongst the old timers, i am a devout fan of Queen. I have recently developed a liking for the music by Ok GO, The xx, James Blake, Vance Joy and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhike on a tractor from Key Monastery to Kaza - It was a 30 minute ride which rendered our butts numb for sometime. But, chugging our way through the vast expanse of the Spiti Valley in a tractor was one of the indelible experiences of our lives.
